Whats up with Siemens and them naming their phones after cars like the S40 (Volvo) and the CL and the SL and the C class Mercedes's ????

That's correct (though they won't admit it).
The S40 isn't named after the Volvo model, it's just the phone that was released between the S35 and the S45.

Ya, I used to wonder about that too. But then realized it was really nothing

Anyways, we all know that Siemens took over Bosch's mobile division. But that's it, right? I know Bosch makes a lot of the electronics for Mercedes Benz but that has nothing to do with Siemens AG, right?

And I was wonder, what is the biggest and/or most famous company in Germany? I noticed that the Deutschland Fussball team is currently sponsored by MB.

That's right, to my knowledge. And Bosch's mobile division was formerly Danish DanCall AS.

Right, MB is the biggest German company in terms of sales, followed by Allianz and Volkswagen and Siemens. It is one of the most prestigious employers here, too.

While we're on the subject, I always found it odd how Siemens Mobile isn't a title sponsor for any big name club in the Bundesliga, yet is the title sponser for S.S. Lazio in the Italian Serie A. Is there any particular reason for this, other than maybe to reach a bigger audience? Is Siemens quite popular in Italia? (are their many offices there?)

Well I know there's no rule saying you have to sponsor a club in your home country. It's just business. T-Mobile (USA) now sponsors Bayern Munich. And why is it in English, 'Bayern Munich' and not 'Bayern Munchen'?

Sorry for all the questions Frank. I don't know many deutsche leute so I thought I'd take the opportunity to ask. (Plus I've got nothing better to do right now than post)

btw, you work at Siemens HQ, right? So you live in Munich?

Well, I guess(!) it's not so easy to sign a Bundesliga team because there are many potential sponsors and few teams. prices probably were too high so far for Siemens Mobile.
But Siemens Mobile just signed Spanish team Real Madrid, a good alternative.

Sorry, no knowledge on this.

"T-Mobile" is universal, just like Vodafone. Actually it still is a German Deutsche Telekom company, they just made their branding global.
English expressions might appear more dynamic or global. I find it rather ridiculous.

You're welcome.

No, I'm not affiliated with Siemens in any way. I live in Frankfurt.

That is like saying the Motorola naming the V70 after the Volvo station wagon. I think it just comes out that way.
