Hi,

I just got an NEC 525 and I have 2 questions for anyone that has experience with this model:

What is all this talk of unlocking, What can you do with the phone after it is unlocked that you couldn't before?

How do you delete the (mostly lame) included ringtones and backgrounds that have a lock icon on them, so you can access more of the (limited) storage?

BTW, I am with AT&T Wireless/Cingular.

Unlocking the phone just allows you to use it on any GSM network. Unfortunately those pictures and ringtones are built into the phone and can't be removed.
