Hey.

I'm browsin through ebay and I checked for "OEM T616 Housing".

china_store and alanbens shows up. I'm interested in the red, but the china_store's read looks really really bad. I'm starting to wonder if it's truly OEM or not.

It's like a buck or so cheaper than the alanbens one.

Wachu guys think?

Alright. The china_store one has red in the back aswell, and the OEM ones have silver in the back no? Methinks I'll buy from
alanbens aye.

i don't have any experience buying a Red OEM housing, but i did buy a blue one from china_store.

It was pretty obvious that the one i purchased off china_store isn't OEM (never expected it to be), and all the posts about how the battery cover starts to peel after a while came true. It isn't too hard to fix, but the thing that annoys me is how it was advertised as being OEM, hence you pay OEM price for it. Yet you do not get what you paid for.

I would imagine the Red ones will also apply. I doubt you'll be able to find a true SE OEM housing. Search around and you'll see many posts about the aftermarket housings and where you might want to try your luck on. Good luck =)

That's what I'm looking at. Any suggestions?

It is getting much more difficult to spot the knockoff cases. Those companies who make the fake cases are getting much better and much quicker at making fake cases.

The problem is many stores buy from these counterfiet manufacturers thinking they are buying real OEM parts. They then sell the parts to innocent customers under the impression that everything is original.

If the T610 housing is being sold for under $15, then it is likely fake. Same thing holds true for batteries. If the battery is less than $20, then it is likely fake.

I have a really REALLY easy way to spot fakes!

Also a good warning to those buying faceplates for the T610 series phones.

SONY ERICSSON DOES NOT MAKE FACEPLATES OR HOUSINGS FOR THE T610 OR T616!!!!

Changing the Housing on a T616 requires removing screws (hence the screwdriver) which means opening the phone up which means VOIDING YOUR WARRANTY!!!!

Sony Ericsson would not sell faceplates/housings for phone where the installation of said faceplates/housings would void their warranty!!!

I feel I should re-word that last entry.

Sony Ericsson makes the housings, but they do not sell them commercially.

Again, opening the phone to replace the faceplates voids the warranty

Sony Ericsson does make housings for Service Points. Service points may sell these commercially to people who have scratched or damaged their phones. The end user is not supposed to change the housing himself. Installing the housing yourself will void your warranty. The end user is supposed to have the service point install the housing.

The Red and Blue housings are not allowed to be sold in the US. Service Points in the US are not allowed to install these housings. If you have the red or blue housing on your phone, it technically will void your warranty.

Sony Ericsson does not have worldwide warranties. Their warranties are regional. They do, however, honor worldwide warranties in many areas. They are not obligated to do this, though.
