OEM parts are great but who can afford them? Im looking for a new housing for my Nokia 8890... saw the OEM and the non-OEM on Ebay but is it safe to go with Non-OEM?? I'm aware of the "nokia" logo not being on the front and the back cover... but what about the rest of the hardware?? thats my main concern. IF anyone has any info.. please share

I'd say definitely go with OEM. I've held both OEM and aftermarket and I must say the aftermarket lacks in MANY areas:

Build Quality - The fitment just isn't as great, there are gaps where there shouldn't be. Also the aluminum is thinner and way more pliable. Finally, the colour is a cheap shinier silver rather than a darker, metallic silver.

Also, you'll have a hell of a time trying to match the keys up in the aftermarket housing.

Hope that helps.

A good rule of thumb is: "Buy it cheap, buy it twice."

for me OEM is the only way to go

Whoa! I never thought there would be such big differences(thinner metal!) Guess I wont be able to get away with a aftermarket housing afterall... ××××, now i have to go sell my two kidneys to get the OEM housing.. its ok, as long as my phone looks good! thats all that matters right!

thanks guys for the info

if you care about your phone you have to do it oem if its just so it dont look so dam ugly and you dont care that it will fall apart in a month go aftermarket. Honestly form what i have seen keypad install is still a pain no matter oem or aftermarlket, and buy a complete housing as there are variations between some of the housings, ie ones with and without antenna and thus differnt middle casings and fronts and backs, so get a complete set. Dont be cheap this phone is supposed to be exspensive

For me I would pay the premium and go with the OEM stuff. I personally don't like the aftermarket crap, coz it lack in quality and I wouldn't want my phone to feel like crap, especially if I'm planning to keep the phone for a while.

i took your guys' advice and got myself a OEM housing and whoa the results are stunning! this is one phone that looks far beyond any current phone with its style... and that metal feel is definately cool to the touch. now all i need is a cover to protect everything!

even tho ive never had an aftermarket cover i still recommend oem over aftermarket just because u can trust oem covers and some aftermarket u cant, but u could find an aftermarket cover built nicely but i would still choose oem.

OEM...there is no question about it!
