FINALLY content with V400->V600 Flash/Flex

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I've been messing with this damned thing for HOURS now, and I finally think I have a great combination.

First off - Install this FULL FLASH (flash and flex combined)

http://s87445123.onlinehome.us/triplets/
http://s87445123.onlinehome.us/trip...XXF10F8_1FF.rar

This installs TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.1DR_A w/ SE6446AXXF10F8 Flex.

After this, install the TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.35R firmware (no flex).

Now, comparing this setup to my stock Cingular V400 setup, here's what I've noticed.

Pros:
Faster menus.
Better battery life.
Less random reboots.
No "GPRS" overwriting the date annoyance.
Auto time update works perfectly.

Cons:
No AIM!

I'm a happy camper.

I applied the same Flex and Flash (Triplets) version yesterday and so far am happy with it. Getting more free memory by deleting locked stuff (like the MTV gifs and videos etc) with p2k was pretty good too.

Previously I had TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.1DR_A1 (notice the trailing '1') and SE43-something for flex.

I am using the same setup
all that US ENGLISH, and SMS space galore!

It gave me more over the default Cingular flex...and even MORE after getting P2Kman and deleting the locked videos and whatnot.

A few more observations:
- Not as fast as the GI9 (engineering) flex.
- Menus aren't transparent.
- Better default ringtones over the Cingular flex.

I flexed to the SE645 something or other flex and I do not like it.

And had less memeory after I erased wallpapers, ringtones etc

I love the GI9 flex very nice.

The GI9 is nice and fast, but the GPRS taking over the date and the lack of automatic time update drive me nuts. I tried adjusting the time manually and it would never save it.

Posted by: BigIke

I never had any of the time problems with GI9.

The GPRS over the date doesn't bother me much either, I have gotten used to it.

Actually... I just installed the F9 flex again, and I'm liking it more. It works well with the 35R flash, and I'm enjoying it more than the F8 flex. The only thing I see now is not being able to hold down 1 for voicemail, but that's not a big deal.

whats the difference with the GI9V600000AAOE9 flex and the SE6446AXXF10F8 flex???
And where can i get the GI9V600000AAOE9 flex??

P/W is ************

Check here as well. Guide.

Which one is better
im not sure which one to go for

Posted by: emc1683

Everyone has their own. Its like asking what is better, chevy or ford. Gonna get all diff answers.

Personally, I love the GI9 flex.

But with all this talk about the SE running really well with 9.35 i may give it another shot.

Buts soooo easy to go back and forth between flashes... download both, flash one... test.... flash the other... then pick the one you like and stick with it.... Hell I've flashed my phone like 5 times....

Posted by: funky.26

so ur saying that i can flash my phones any time i like. so if one stuffs up, i can go bak to the other one?

Posted by: emc1683

Yes. You can flash and flex or both, whenever you want.

Flexing is the GUI if you will, of the phone. What you see more or less. The GI9 and SE are versions of this. Whenever you do this, your phone will go back to stock. You will loose phonebooke entries unless you back them up. Images, ringers, etc, and have to re-personalize the phone. No biggy, just about 5 minutes and your all good again.

Flahsing (Firmware)is the Software of the phone. The guts. What makes it operate (or not if you jack it up). You can run a flash when ever, when new ones come out etc. You will not lose thing on your phone. It will go into a flash mode and about 5 minutes later, its all done. Turn the phone on, and voila. New firmware.

So yes you can safley change whenever you feel the need. As I said, I have flexed mine like 5 times with no probs. The reason I have to do it so many times was because I deleted files that shouldnt have been deleted with P2Kman.....

Posted by: funky.26

these flexing and flashing the phones are to get a v300 or v525 to a v600 rite??
With all the features of a v600 inc. video recording and playing?

Posted by: Isriam

and to get other features of current v600. i went from AT&T v600 to plain v600. dropped all the built in AT&T features. running 9.35R firmware and SE-F9 flex. seems faster than AT&T software and loses all the mmode crap.

Posted by: linenoyz

The GI9 flex is an "engineering" flex. It's stripped down in some ways, and it's fast as hell. However, it has some quirks and is really more for the "advanced" user.

The SE-F9 flex (and the F8 flex I originally mentioned) are more "consumer-level" than the GI9. It has more ringtones, two games, etc. It's more like what you'd expect to see if you were to buy a plain V600 from Motorola. When I first tried the F9 flex, it didn't work well, but that was before I had the 35R flash. SE-F9 works very well with 35R. It's not as fast as the GI9, but it does everything I want, and is definitely better than the default Cingular crapola.

Just my $0.02.
