siemens software version changes

I am thinking on going back to voicestream. One question I have is that my siemens s40 has software version 3.2.0 and I hear the latest version is 9.0. This seems like a huge jump in revisions to me.
I am wondering if I should send my phone to siemens to get upgraded, or should I just go with 3.2.0.

If you don't have any problems then the update isn't worth the hassle. There are only some minor bug fixes which don't justify the major version jumps.
