6800 headset volume issue

Hi y'all.
I justs signed up for ATT service and got a new 6800 Nokia phone.
I like the phone, but the volume of the headset is very faint.
The phone came with its own little "flea" for the ear, but I would like to upgrade to a better headset.
Because the phone has its own special jack, it is very difficult to find anything that would fit this jack. Finally I found an adapter at Best Buy for $7.99, which lets me use any cellphone headset.
Today I bought three headsets from: Plantronics, Panasonic and RadioShack (own brand) and they all SUCK!!! The output volume is barely to be heard.
The original head"flea" which came with the phone is not much better, but it does perform a little better than the other three.
What is going on here?? Do I need to buy overpriced original Nokia equipment and if so, why???
Anyone else has this issue??

I find the Jabra headsets to improve the volume because of the way their "ear gels" are designed. Try them and see if they would work for you. Thanks.
