i have tried sending animated gifs to my phone in every possible way i know, and every time i try it shows up as a regular unanimated gif.
-i have tried sending it through vzwpix.com
-i have tried sending it through a hotmail e-mail to (mynumber)@vzwpix.com
-i have tried converting a normal gif into an animated gif using bitpim
-i have made all of my animated gif's with 3 slides and 128x145
-i have tried sending gifs sized from 5kb to 20kb
-all of the gifs i sent had a bit depth of 32
does any1 see anything that i could have done wrong while doing this? do i need to rename my gif's? are they too small/big? do i need to send them to my phone with a diff program?
plz, i am desperate, i will take any helpfull info and answer any questions about what i did that is not already posted

If you open the gif in Internet Explorer does in animate?
Maybe bit depth, I doubt it. I don't know, though.
Maybe try to find a different program for making the animation.
For example, some MP3 encoders encode in a way that the 8900 can't understand.

I have read every thread about animations, and I am still running into problems getting an animation to my phone. I have no problem with ringtones or pics, but when it comes to animations I am stumped. I read the thread where you send an email as a plain text with the animation as an attachment, but I keep getting an email back saying that the email was invalid (from either outlook or hotmail). I have sent the file as an animated .gif, tried uploading, and almost everything in between (except for the right way apparently) and have had no luck.
I have used a couple of programs to make the animations, and even animations directly off the web. All the animations work in internet explorer.
Please help...

I don't know what to tell you. I have no problems.
I make the gif 3 frames, <100kb, e-mail to phone, save to media file (goes right into animations folder) and then use it as my screen saver. I have not gotten more than 3 frames to work no matter what the total size is.
Your email gets bounced back to you? I have never seen that. Make sure they are not more than 100KB. I have never gotten an e-mail to work that was over 100kb. Verizon says you should not try anything over 50KB, but <100 still works.

Cbud thank you for the hot tip.
I was having trouble getting an animation to load via cable.
When you said "I make the gif 3 frames" I went and checked how many frames this animation was. and wa-la it was 7 so I changed it to 3, saved it, and it uploaded just fine with a cable on my Samsung...
To bad one couldn't have more frames, maybe I'll try upping the frames and see if it loads. I'll let you know if it works or not.

Well I just tried one with 9 frames. and it worked. so it musta been that one animation for some reason.
Thanks for the mention of the 3 frames. it did work. (for me)
Good Luck to everyone in the attempt of upping animations.
