Hello,

I bought a GD87 from Vodafone, and it once was locked to it's network.

Now, I gave the phone to a little shop here, where I live and he unlocked it for me. I dont know exactly what he has done, but it worked, kinda. It made connections 1 out of 5 times and the phone shut itself down after a minute in the conversation. Not very good...
I thought the guy didnt unlock it correctely, or messed up the firmware, and so i bought a data cable.

The first time I saw the phone, it had an Vodafone menu (black and white and a little red), after the unlock from the guy, it had the standard menu, and firmware a16.

I upgraded it to a22, because after that I wanted a55 with a nice appearance. When it was a22 it worked good, for the half hour that i tried it. No errors...

Then I upgraded to a55 and it connected 1 time (!) out of the 15 times or so...
I downgraded to a53 to a39 to a22 again and finally a21. Even downgrading could't solve the problem. He doesn't connect ONCE at this point...so i feel bad...

Please help! What could be the problem, what do you suggest?

Thanks a lot!

Greetings from Holland, Tryharder

I believe what you need to do is to upgrade from A22 to A32 first. After that you upgrade to A55. Before I forget do use cb2000 for all upgrades although it is not totally necessary. Good luck with your upgrading!

But how is it possible that it doesn't work after the downgrade to a22? I used CB2000 every time after a up/downgrade to clear memory, or do you mean something else?

Is there a way to reset the whole thing, except firmware flash, because it obviosly remembers something, when i downgraded to a22 and it still doesnt work, but it worked with a22 earlier that evening...

I also have the feeling that it has a lock of some sort because everything works, except outgoing and incomming calls.

The problem is not the sim-card, i tried it in other phones and it works perfectely.

Thanx again

EDIT: Now it gets really strange: the original Vodafone sim manages to crash the phone before it finds its netwerk. It starts up normal after the code but when he's searching for the network he crashes....hmm....my t-mbile card doesn't do that..He finds the network and the phone works normally except for calling in&out..

Well, this is the very first time I come across this problem. Really strange ain't it?

EXACTLY SAME PROBLEM HERE...

the network connection is showing, but calls are dropped.
Is that a GD87 Issue?

I took the phone back to Vodafone and they repaired the phone for me. The phone then came back without any problems.
