Sanyo 5400 and AIM?

Ok, so I used to have the IM forwarding from AIM sending to my phone.
That was up until yesterday, when I had my number changed and got rid of PCS Vision.
Now, when I try to reconfigure AIM to forward to the new number, it never sends the confirmation message.
Am I doing something wrong here, or do I need Vision to even receive messages?
