Sanyo 8100: Increase number of Rings?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

For the life of me I can't figure out how to increase the number of rings before voicemail picks up. I am constantly running for the phone and missing calls... (there's a good reason for this so no need to suggest I carry my phone with me).

Any ideas?

I think most providers use *94x where "x" is a number from 1-9 to indicate the number of rings.

You simply enter the string and push talk/send and a few seconds later the system will return a tone to indicate the change was successful.

For example, entering *945 and talk/send will set your phone to ring 5 times and then forward to voicemail.

I tried this and it says the feature code is not valid. This is with Sprint btw.

I will look into how sprint handles this. I always thought it was a hardware thing but since it is connected to voicemail maybe it is a software/provider related issue.

Ah...you're on Sprint. That explains it...they have a fixed 23 second rollover to voicemail. I don't believe it can be changed.

Too bad you can't control it, as 23 seconds is only about 4 rings (5-6 seconds per ring). I have mine set at 5 rings so I have enough time to grab the phone if I have it set down somewhere. But even at 4 rings, I would rarely have to scramble to get the phone.

You mentioned you don't carry it or it's not closeby...perhaps you can find another way of keeping it closer?

I don;t know about sprint, but some years ago, I had verizon tech go into the computer and change the number of rings on my line--it can be done if someone will do it.
