A few quick questions before buying a SE47

My (Verizon) Motorola T720 died on me today, it no longer boots. I was looking at this phone and like it a lot. I do; however, have a few questions.
I like to keep my phone in my pocket and did this with the T720. Is it possible for dust to get between the plastic and the LCD screen? My T720 looks like a snowglobe.
How is the speaker quality?
Verizon users: how's the battery life? I've heard mixed reviews. People have told me the battery lasts less than a day and others have said they can use it 3 days without recharging.
Any phone defects/problems that would keep me away from buying this phone?
I heard you can't change the quickkeys (N,W,S,E) to what you want, but your phone company sets them. Is it true?
Yes I've read this forum, I want to hear reviews though
. Thanks a lot!

Dust: my slider screen does get some dust underneath it. If it's really bothersome you can take it apart and clean it out using the instructions posted elsewhere on how to change the Slider housing.
Speaker quality has been good for me, and I used the speakerphone as an actual speakerphone today for the first time (as oposed to open-air voice mail checking) and the other person said it sounded good.
Battery life: I'm one of the users who can go a number of days without recharging. I started today with 4 battery bars (probably not a real full charge though) and talked about 30 minutes today and it's still showing above half.
Quick keys: I have found no way to change what these are set to. I'm using the virgin mobile slider on Verizon, but I don't know whether these are configurable on the ture Verizon version.

Hey I have the Slider from Virgin Mobile and trust me man, YOU'LL LOVE THIS PHONE! The sliding feature alone makes it worth gettin and it's got so many features packed into it. I use the speakerphone for like every other call I make and it works great, the screen is fine as long as you get PDA screen protectors or somethin like them for it, NEVER take the phone with you without screen protection...it WILL get scratched. Battery life is fine on the phone too...no worries there, overall I suggest you buy the SE47...you won't regret it. I hope I was some help to you.

Alright I'm hopefully going to get this phone tomorrow. The tech said come back tomorrow and they'll give me a new T730 for $50; I'm going to see if I can get this phone for that price instead. I think the T720 is $100 more anyway, althought this phone seems like a better phone. My friend thinks it's goofy though.
I will most likely use the PDA screenguards.

hmm...i'm not sure if u can get this for 50bucks tho....i got mine for that price but only cause i still had a "discounted price" thing to use....it is a nice phone tho

I just picked my phone up it's nicer than I thought. I got it for 100 bucks, with a 50 dollar mail in rebate. Verizon only allows upgrades once every two years, so I had to upgrade an older phone number/account, and transfer the number to my number.
Another few questions:
Do you guys keep this phone in your pocket?
How can I tell when the phone has finished charging?

Hope you enjoy the Slider man, it's a great phone...anyways to answer your questions. Yes I do keep the phone in my pocket, and I use the PDA screen protectors for it..the only bad thing is that every now and then you gotta change them because lint gets trapped inside the screen protector and they start wearing off faster cause they can't stick to the screen anymore. But for your second question...you can tell the phone is done charging by looking at the screen...it will say CHARGING COMPLETE. Have fun with your phone, and remember.

SliderStyle any problems with dust under the screen?
Posted by: carverrn
My son has one and he seems to like it. I've used the speaker phone and it works great ... better quality than the speaker phone on my Audiovox 8600.
Battery life seems to be fine but we haven't really pushed it. Reviews indicate it has a very good battery life.
My son was a bit disappointed about the number of games available for it from Verizon's Get It Now service compared to the number available for my Audiovox 8600.

Rich

No problems with dust under my screen. The PDA Protectors do their job, it's just...it sucks when you have the phone in your pocket because lint from your pants gets attracted to the sticky parts of the protector which makes them wear off faster. It also sucks when you try cutting the protector pieces to the right size for the slider screen...it's just so ×××× hard to get it right.

I just upgraded to the slider and I really like it. It has a lot of cool features and seems like a great deal for anyone looking for something more than just the basics ... color screen, downloadable ring tones, no contract with my Virgin Mobile account, etc.

adding my two cents:
sliders are great, parts are cheap, if you ever break it you can buy one for about $20-30 off ebay and use it to fix your phone...i got one off ebay for $11 and fixed it in 5 minutes (cable to screen had come loose muahahahaha)
