Treo 180?

I found an unopened Treo 180 and was wondering if it would be worth my while to use it, if not I'll just toss it on ebay.
It seems they do not ship with GPRS, but you have to download the GPRS update from your provider. My question is this: say I download the update from T-Mobile, will I be able to change the settings, specifically the APN?

I can tell ypou this much. I have a new one off eAbay and it has the GPRS, I got the SIM unlock done right away but they lock access to the Network Settings. You cant c hange the APN. I have spent 3 hours from TMOBILE to HandSpring and you know the deal, no one knows SH_t. You get two choices the internet2 APN or t6he VPN APN. All I want is wap.voicestream.com Is that too much to ask I say?
lol

Yes, that is what I want to do, I think im just going to open it up and see what I can get done. They have a European update which does not appear to be provider specific, but I wonder if it is only for the 900/1800mhz version.

Guess what, got it to work. I was able to make a call in my house so the RF isnt that bad.
Do this: go to preferences -> network and then tap the menu box in the top left corner and select new.
You cannot edit the GPRS profiles, but you can make new ones. I'll go outside in a second and test it. Wow, Handspring's support doesnt know anything
On another note the box says "GPRS enabled" and I didnt have to install any extra software to use GPRS.
/edit: yes, it works!

Yes, it has GPRS and it finds it, but can you access the FREE TZONES? I bet not. You only have 2 Internet choices under NETWORK, one is TMOBILE Internet and TMOBILE VPN. Neither one of them will work unless you subscribe to the $19.99 internet plans. What needs to be done is add a APN of wap.voicestream.com This post below I am about to post, will explain it.
Aboout to post the following:
As per usual, I am in the midst of a TMO support "LOOP". The TMOBILE Branded/Distributed TREO 180 has 2 APN's setup in it's Network Setup. You have a choice of TMOBILE Internet (uses APN wap.voicestream2.com ) or TMOBILE VPN ( wap.voicestream3.com ) The Network Setup page is LOCKED. So you cannot add or alter any of the APN settings. Thus, to access TZONES or use FREE Internet access APN ( wap.voicestream.com ), I need to add that APN, and cannot.
My question is this, has anyone had TMOBILE unlock the network Settings so you can add the wap.voicestream.com APN or tell you where to download a file etc, so that you can access the FREE internet access? ( So far I have met with claims after 3 different calls to Customer Support, who transferred me somewhere, even though I asked for Data Support, that they have no access to that feature)
Also, Handspring says it is a carrier dependant feature and they cannot help.
So basically the world is trying to tell me that unless I want to use the 2 NETWORK settings that are in the TREO180 now, I could just as well throw it away. And that, I am not buying. What if TMO changes their APN settings, all TREO 180's become worthless? Also, it is already SIM unlocked, so that is not the answer wither.

I didnt have a problem at all, even before I entered the SIM unlock code, I think the pictures speak for themselves.
I still cant figure out how to change the homepage in Blazer...

I appreciate the effort. After all my complaining, I ended up thinking that maybe it was Unit issue. I got another one sent to me and was in the settings in no time. The short version is looks like a Firmware issue. Anyway, I a, all setup and it works fine. Nice lil unit, but hard to go to a greenish screen after a Tungsten T and Ericsson T515. But it's just a toy to play with. I can see where a 300 or 600 would be quite nice. But anyway, cant beat the unit with an EasySpeak SIM and just cruisin along, as long as the Free Access lasts. Anyway, I will now see if I can return the favor, and figure out Blazer. At first glance it has that "Perma Installed" look. Once again, thanks for your efforts to try and help.

Hmm....thanks for talking the time to lay things down.
But, I really didn't need at that (but truely; ty, for the effort).
Actually, I figured out the problem; Blazer browser was acting up for some reason or another. So, I got Xiino, and it worked just fine.
So, thanks again!
