LG VX 6000 Cable Problem

I have an LG VX 6000 (it's obvious from the title of the thread) anyway, I bought an LG VX 6000 cable from radio shack, the cable came with the future dial software. I installed the driver. I turned the phone on, inserted the cable to the phone than the computer. My computer (os is XP pro) won't detect my new hardware. I also checked with device manager and i don't see my phone listed under ports or modems. I even tried going to the future dial website and downloading the program from there and It still wont work. I know I have the right cable because it says VX6000 on it. I have no idea why it isnt working. Any help would be appreciated.

first make sure the phone is set to serial (menu, 9, 6, 2) (select the second option (rs-232)). Yes your cable is a usb cable but u need ur phone set like that for it to work. oh... speed (option 3) needs to be 115200 also.

Thanks Gmenfonce, but i've already tried that. The problem is that once I install the Driver my phone doesn't show up under "ports" in the "Device Manager" if anyone has had the same problem, please let me know how you fixed it.
