I've got a Virgin Mobile SE47 that I've successfully reprogrammed for Verizon service. Most of it seems to be working pretty well but is there any way to use AOL Instant Messenger on this phone or will it have to have the firmware flashed?

Hey I've got a Virgin Mobile SE47 that I'm trying to use on the Verizon network as well. I'm able to make calls but the "Wireless Web" won't work. What did you do to "successfully reprogram" your Virgin Mobile Slider? Thanks for the help!

You can't actually get AIM for the phone but you still can use it on your phone, you have to do some weird text stuff tho, there is a user gide on how to use it here http://mymobile.aol.com/portal/im/verizon/index.html

Here how I do AIM for free on my SE47 (Verizon).

Fist, I configured it for free WAP access.

type 111111 and hit "Ok"
Go to "Browser Setup" and hit "Ok"
Change your Uplink to a free WAP gateway
NOTE: I am not sure if you need to change both A and B or not
I use a free Openwave gateway (12.25.203.11 port 9201)
Use the same IP for both primary and secondary
You're now configured for free WAP access!

Next, create an AIM contact

Hit "Menu," select "Contacts" and hit "Ok"
Select "Add New" and then "URL" and hit "Ok"
enter the URL http://www.airsoftwireless.com/airim/login.wml and hit "Ok"
Name your contact, hit "Ok"
I named mine "AIM"
You can now use this contact to use AIM, MSN, or Yahoo messaging!

Be aware that using AIM in this manner does not cost extra, but does use your minutes, as does the free WAP.

i got wap to work but how to u use the contact.? also how to you get the / on the phone? i cant seem to find it

To insert a "/" change to "Symbols." Its about the third way down.

To use the contact, in my case, hit "Contacts," Select "AIM," hit "Ok." Highlight the URL, and hit the green phone button.

And to the other person, make sure you typed everything in correctly. I used those exact settings like 10 minutes ago and it worked fine.

unless it's after 9pm...? cause of free nites and weekends

it's weird cause in their(verizon) AIM commericals...the kid is using a slider to do IMs....but i can't find it anywhere..even in GIN

My Vm slider has old software and I have tried various ip adresses and none seem to have an effect. My phone just shows: Hi there. and keeps doinng sending>>>>>>> but it never gets to the website then it says network not found. Can someone please help?

Mine works wonderfully. I just followed directions, so I dont think I did anything special.

i followed Eventide to the letter
no wap whatsoever on my flashed vm phone on a verizon prepay plan
