Someone posted this in another thread but I think it might come in handy for some of you here:

Cheers

Posted by: cdeman

Yeh, this needs to be put in the FAQ's. It can save a lot of Noobs a lot of time it they can just send the WAP and MMS settings to their phone themself.

Posted by: TriBand81

Good idea or a sticky. I'll PM Darla and littlefuzzbear.

Posted by: FLTaxman

Thanks, that worked great.

I was trying the same thing from the SonyEricsson site, but it didn't work for me.

This should be "stickeyed."

Posted by: TriBand81

No problem, I PMed Darla to ask her to sticky this thread. She's probably not seen my PM yet but I'll ask her again today in case she missed my PM.

Posted by: marc_e

Why isn't the v300 in the pulldown for selecting phone?

Posted by: TriBand81

Try using the settings for the Motorola V400. They should do the trick.

Posted by: nucker

So if I choose the MMS tool and send to my V300 I'll be able to send and receive picture messages?

Been waiting a while for this phone and kind of leery about messing somethin gup after just 2 days.

If for some reason, the settings are not correct, just delete them. That won't harm your phone.

Hehe thanks will you take British pounds too ?

Posted by: jvanbrecht

The site does not work, I attempted 4 times, said the settings were sent 4 times, but I never recieved em. I ended up creating the settings manually.

Posted by: Greyzzz

Wish this thing worked for a V3682 or Accompli 009

Thanks!

I sent these settings to my Hong Kong market V600 using the V400 settings. I recieve the update, but it gives me a Exceeds Maximum Limit, Can Not Update Web Sessions Profile.

Can someone post up the settings here so I can do this manually.

It would be good for this thread anyway

Whoa way too many of the same post which settings are you after? WAP, MMS or Internet?

Posted by: RevIllusions

Alright.

What I did was delete the manual web sessions profile i created to make room the the OTA auto setup from TMO.

The phone accepted the MMS setup, then I edited one of the original presetted carriers that I will never use. Although I couldnt edit the Name to T-Zones, I put in all the settings.

I now can receive text msgs, but no pictures. I can send picture msgs and text though.

Wondering what I need to do now to receive picture messages.

I never did send myself the WAP update. My phone just doesnt have the room for another setting.

Can you post this up?

Posted by: TriBand81

Unfortunately, I'm not in the US right now and I don't have my US SIM here in the UK. Someone else will have to post the settings.

My apologies

Thank you!!! Actually made my T306 worth turning on (AT&T unlocked one)

The original WAP configurator link that has been going around the forum, as you may have noticed, was an internal site designed for CSRs and Sales Reps to setup their customers phones for TZONES/WAP. It appears they realized the general public was passing it around. Well anything good for us was bad for them and it appears they have secured the site from outside IP addresses. LOL. Here is the site, as setup for the general population to access.

Welcome to the T-Mobile Wireless Data Configurator. This configuration tool will help you setup your phone for Internet Access (WAP and dial-up), Multimedia Messaging (MMS) and Email in a few quick and easy steps. Note that for some services, there may be a few pre-requisites that will have to be performed. These steps (if any) are detailed at the beginning of each tool. Click Below to Go To Site

×××× i thought i would finally get WAP on my Accompli but the settings didnt work for me!

Posted by: Wireless

Shouldnt be a problem. Are u able to get into the WAP Browser settings?
There really isnt very many settings of importance to make it work.

Configure WAP access on your phone

Setting up the handset

1. On the handset, from the main application window, scroll to Browser and press Enter.

2. Press the Menu button.

3. In the Browser Menu, scroll to Setup and press Enter.

4. Scroll to a profile, use the TAB key to highlight Edit, then press Enter.

5. Scroll to WAP Settings and press Enter.

6. Scroll to Primary IP: and press Enter.

7. Type 216.155.165.050 and press Enter.

8. Scroll to Primary Port and press Enter.

9. Type 9201 or Permanent, non-secure and press Enter.

10. Press Back to return to the Profile menu.

11. Scroll to Data Bearer and press Enter.

12. Scroll to GPRS and press Enter.

13. Scroll to APN: and press Enter.

14. Type wap.voicestream.com and press Enter.

15. Leave the Username and Password fields blank.

16. Press Back to return to the Profile menu.

17. Scroll to Profile Name and press Enter.

18. Type T-Zones GPRS and press Enter.

19. Press Back to return to the WAP Settings menu.

20. Scroll to T-Zones GPRS and press Enter to make it active.

21. Press the Home button.

22. Scroll to Browser and press Enter.

23. The handset will display You must enter a homepage to proceed

24. Press Enter.

25. Press Backspace to delete the existing homepage.

26. Type in http://wap.myvoicestream.com

The new WAP profile is now configured and ready for use.

Note: If the enter a homepage message does not come up then go to the Browser setup and choose another profile and then switch back to the existing T-Mobile profile and try the Browser again.

Note: Some handsets exist that won’t allow the homepage to be changed. The customer will have to use the Go option and type in the web site manually.

What is happening after you have done all this? What errors are being generated? And have you made sure your acct is propely provisioned for DATA/WAp/GPRS etc.?

Great glad to see that this thread helps some of you

Posted by: Xelarator

Alright guys, i thought this might help me but it didnt. I am using a Panasonic GU87, but i cannot seem to be accessing tzones with it. When I or the CS tries to OTA, i keep getting "Cannot Update Provisioning Data" error. I tried to set up Tzones settings as well as MMS settings manualy, but it did no good. I really dont understand what the problem is, maybe you guys can give me some suggestions.

Posted by: starkisttunalov

for some reason my 5100 never gets the sms wtf is wrong with my stupid 5100, i can't even get the nokia settings either

Posted by: jnaks

yeah, i cant get it to work either. manually put in all the settings as described and no dice on my Panasonic G51M. Everytime i try to get on, it says network not available. Took the battery and sim card off many times, thinking that a power cycle might help. nope. just trying to get the WAP to work. Works fine on my v300, just not this one. tried the OTA, doesnt really help esp since there isnt a G51 or even a GD55 option.

It just says PIN? I never get that when receiving the settings via SMS. It could be that the phone is asking for the security code which is 000000 (default) or the phone unlock code which is 1234 according to my V525 manual.

Actually, the PIN code they ask, is suplied by the configurator, since your 525 is the european version of the V400, you can use the V400 settings, and on the TOP of the page, after you Press "Send Message" it has the pin code listed.

Posted by: ryancguy

okay . . . i have 2 things:

1) I cant get the site to work, I select one of them, let's say mms, then i click next. It does that dumb double click noise and goes to the top of the page because of the # anchor thing

2) Setting up MMS and WAP . . . I dont pay for these or anything. If you set them up like you are, do you have to pay to use the net on the phone (or WAP) and do you have to pay to send pic messages. I dont want to pay to do either, I bought a data cable but i cant get my pics to the hard drive with easygprs 2.1.2 . . .i am currently downloading 2.1.8 to see if it helps. Oh, i am usin my samsung v205 btw

Have you tried an older Samsung model like the S105 or the E105? Theoretically the settings should work with your X105 then. I'm not familiar with Samsung but it's an educated guess. Give it a try and let me know.

Posted by: famewolf

I'm hesitant to mess with my phone's wap settings..cause wap works right now but everytime I turn the phone off and back on it resets the homepage to the t-mobile site instead of my personal homepage...would downloading the settings allow me to alter the homepage and have it stay?

I don't know, most new phones have the ability to store multiple WAP profiles. If you don't want to risk it, just leave things as they are since you have WAP working right now anyway.

anyone have mms settings for tmobile on a e715? i lost mine!
thanks

Posted by: dbranson

Obviously I qualify as a noob (ie), but when I go to this site, my phone isn't listed. I have an I mate Pocket PC (looks just like the Xda II that T Mobile may be soon offering in my area, but I ordered it from expansys) For the life of me, I can't get this to connect to the web, wap or anything, except phone service. I've plugged in the wab.voicestream.com apn and the ip address given by T mobile tier 3, but no luck. Any suggestions? Do you know if one of these phones listed on the above link might emulate a ppc phone like the imate?
Any input is appreciated!

Posted by: dbranson

I decided to randomly pick a phone, and picked nokia ngage. the settings were sent to my phone, along with a message saying that the contents of this message can't bve displayed. No option to open/save to settings, etc.

Posted by: dbranson

OK, tried anothr phone, I'm gonna get this if it kills me, picked the V400, and the site message said they sent the settings and gave the pin, but my phone didn't receive them!!!

Does the Configurator give you an option of selecting the Pocket PC? See if that's listed, if so try that.

Could anyone help me with my NEC 525 to work with T-Mobile.....the Wap settings that I have to play with are:

APN
Proxy Server
Portal URL
Username
Password
HTTP Port
HTTPS Port
DNS

IF anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Brian

Posted by: dbranson

No, no pocket pc as an option. I suppose I could just go through and try each one, but that seems silly. I thought the ngage might be close to the ppc format, but that didn't work either. When the tmobile server does send settings, my sms on the phone says that file is unreadable or can't be opened.

Sorry to hear that. I would recommend that you post in the Pocket PC forum to see if anyone there has a clue.

I am not that familiar with NEC settings. Nor will many be. Well the newest ones that is. I believe I am on the money. If this is for free wap, your not paying for a HTTPS secure port but most of us are doing fine with what we have using the basic port. So I may be wrong, BUT, it wouldnt stop you from getting your FREE WAP

Data Bearer: GPRS
Access Point Name: wap.voicestream.com
User Name: leave blank
Password: leave blank
Authentication Type: Secure
Gateway IP Address: 216.155.165.050
always enter the last 3 numbers of that dress as zero-five zero

That should get you up and running.

Misc Other Settings:
Port: 9201
DialUp#: 19132060681
Time Out: 5 min
Line type : ISDN

there is something goofy about
the 5100. I actually called tmobile
to configure the settings. After a couple of
transfers, I got a guy from teh wireless
data group. He tried sending a sms message to the configurator does.
I never received it. ack. So he tried to
walk me through it. For some reason
in the menus on 5100, there is no entry
for IP address for GPRS (bearer) settings.

I don't know why.

I popped my sim card in my 6200 and
all worked fine. go figure.

Posted by: priestess

Well, just because I'm new, I clicked on the WAP configurator link and had settings sent to my v300. Since there is no v300 on the drop-down menu, I picked v400. However, I can access internet (WAP?) just by going to the browser application under Office Tools. Does this mean I can access WAP with no problems and don't need the configurations I had sent to my phone?

So, should I update my browser using the setting sent to my phone? I haven't updated yet. Thanks

Posted by: TriBand81

Does WAP work for you when you follow the steps you outlined in your post? If so, there is no need to use the Configurator to update your settings.

Posted by: coenan

ok here is an update.

I called nokia. The nokia guy could
not send me a SMS as well. But
he walked me through the setting
for WAP.

The key was the "Proxy" menu
item had to be set to the IP address
and port 8080.

After setting this, it seems to work.

woohooo.....

Weird question, but when I use doris browser or agile messenger do I now choose T-zones GPRS for the free wap?
I'm using nokia 3650

Nope it's for WAP access in general. But it might be for free WAP if you have an unlimited data plan with T-Mo.

Posted by: sdsviet

ok i got a question with this tmo configurator. i used to use the free wap but since its dead i got the 4.99 tzones instead. the only issue i am having is that how come with my p900 when i have something like email set to connect automatically every couple of hrs it wont do it. it has the account tzones popup where i have to click on connect or cancel. it sucks because i dont want to do this all the tiem. when i had it with the free gprs i didnt have to worry about any of that. also the connection doesnt last as long either. when i had the free gprs i would keep my aim on for days and not worry about it disconnecting at all. but now after a couple of hrs the popup comes up which shows that my connection somehow was stopped. do u guys know a way to keep the connection on at all times. its really getting annoying having to reconnect all the time.

Posted by: L Bo

If this is the issue I had, I just had to power off/on the phone and it would follow the settings to retrieve my email. This needs to happen at least once a week. For some odd reason, the P9xx's need to be restarted to stay "fresh".

Hope this helps.

Posted by: sdsviet

that is true withe the p900's tho. my screen keyboard sometimes doesnt want to come on and teh only way i can get it back is to restart it. but for my question is why did it work fine with the gprs and not with the tmo config?

Posted by: L Bo

Something has to be different in the settings between the 2.

Posted by: sdsviet

i really dont see any at all. after i install teh tmo config it was like the same setting as my gprs but somehow it worked and the free one didnt. it was weird. or is it because i have a wap account added to it. i think that's the only think i noticed. ther'es a t zones gprs in my wap accounts area now.

Posted by: L Bo

Go to Cingular. Less problems.

Hi Wireless! By any chance would you have alternative settings for the P900? I too am a frequent flyer at TMO's data support group...I had downloaded the ICQ for Symbian and could not connect to that or to Yahoo IM.

A kind soul in another thread said I needed to get the unlimited internet from TMO. However, when I put my SIM in a T600, *poof* Yahoo IM up and running fine. I downloaded Agile Messenger and finally got connected, but ICQ now gives a password error. (I think this is a problem at ICQ, as the ICQ2Go java app for browser use in a PC also gives the same error, but my ICQ client works). Handango is in the process of refunding my $$$, but I still want to make sure I am getting the best performance and have the optimal settings for my P900.

Thanks!

Grisha
