Hi,

According to http://www.earthuser.com/8900/ you have to do this:
Quote:
DISABLING THE SHUTTER SOUND ON THE CAMERA

Overwrite camera/CameraState.dat (new file is attached) and restart phone

Hex dump:
02000000010000020000000401 - Sound Off
02000000010000020000000301 - 3 Shutter is selected

My question is what happens when you go to turn on camera mode and then go to menu, and then change the sound. Since the camera doesn't have the option for what is selected in hex wouldn't there be an issue.

Can anyone tell me what happends, I just don't want to **** up my phone again like last time with that implanting picture stunt.

I had no issues with this change on my phone. However, if I go into the shutter sound selection menu, none of the items are selected.

What happens when you change it to sound 2 for example. Does it work as expected.

how do u overwrite the .dat file? Do you need a data cable to access it?

i am also very very interested in this. can someone please post the file we have to use to overwrite it? or provide some clearer instructions? thanks!

If after you disable the sound and go back into the menu for shutter sounds, you'll see none are selected...but if you highlight one and activate it...you'll have the shutter sound back. I found that out last night messing with it, now I gotta get rid of it again.

i actually just did this last night as well after i made that silly n00bish post above. my phone is now camera sound free.

can someone please explain specifically what you are supposed to do to turn off the camera sound? I don't understand how you are supposed to overwrite the file in the phone. Do u need a data cable or can u do it some other way. Clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Do a search for CAMERA SHUTTER and you'll find the steps. You gotta dl a file and overwrite the file thru Bitpim and you're set. It's easy.

is there a way to turn off the camera sound without using a data cable? when i read some of the bitpim stuff it seemed like i need a data cable to use it. i don't have a data cable and don't want to buy one just to turn off the sound. can anyone help? thanks
