LG 4600 FutureDial Cable compatible with DataPilot?

I've got Datapilot softaware and cable for a Samsung phone and just got a new LG 4600.
I went out and bought a datacable (by FutureDial) for a VX 6000 that supposedly would be compatible with my phone. (Couldn't find anywhere local that sold the DataPilot cables for my phone.)
After downloading and installing the drivers from their website my PC and the DataPilot software still don't recognize the phone.
My Question: Does anyone know a way to make this work or should I just return the cable and try to find the DataPilot brand cable?
Thanks!

Moved to the software forum.

Just so it's clear:
The LG VX-4600 is the phone I'm trying to get to sinc with my PC.
It's also the phone meant for this FutureDial cable.
I searched high and wide and tried just about everything I came across with no luck.
Help???

I've got a futuredial USB to serial cable, and I purchased Datapilot as well, since they "say" that they support the 4600.
Well guess what - no joy here! I can get the software to recognize a device (it will connect) if I use a vx6000 but it appears the data structure in the phonebook and calender aren't the same as a vx4600.
I could care less about ringtones and wallpapers - or I'd just go fool around with BITPIM (which works OK for me).
I want to synch my phone with my PIM - I do not understand why this is so bloody difficult!
If you can get it to work let me know - if I find a way to make it work, I'll post here.

It depends on the cable itself really,,
does the cable itself show up under device manager as a com port?
you should see some sort of entry as a "USB serial port"
if no, are there any yellow exclamation points under device manager?
If no to both, then no the cable will not work with the 4600, you need the 4500 cable, they are different.
My OEM LG 6000 cable does not work with the 4500,4600 or 3200. But the 4500 OEM cable does.
