I've got an unbranded GSM Treo 600 with firmware 2.08. Whenever it loses AT&T and I'm in an area that can't roam on to Cingular/T-Mobile I have to power cycle it before it returns to normal. It says "No Service - SOS Only" but if people call me my phone rings. When I try to answer the call doesn't go through and my phone says I have a missed call. I can't make or receive calls until I power cycle the phone. Sometimes I have to do a soft reset too. ANyone know why?

I have actually moved back to 2.08 from 3.04 because I just had too many problems with 3.04 - the phone resetting itself, very slow UI, etc. Can anyone recommend a decent firmware version or a fix for these problems I'm having?

I see this problem mentioned oftern over at Treo Central.

It seems there is a long delay for the GSM version of the Treo to pick the signal back up when it's gone out of range. Most people wind up have to turn the wireless radio off and then back on to get the phone back into service once it's entered SOS mode as apposed to waiting for it to regain service on its own.

Thanks for the notice...hopefully there will be a firmware upgrade soon that fixes all this.

What you can do to avoid the Treo from searching on all 4 bands for a long time..is to set the network preferences to 850/1900 instead of Automatic..so that it searches on 2 bands only, instead of all the 4 bands. That should help.

There is a new firmware from cingular 3.05 that just came out.. i've d/led but havnt installed it.. prob will tonight and tell you what how it goes.. cause.. ever since i updated to 3.04.. i've noticed if i call my cell it rings but my phone doesnt.. and have missed alot of missed calls..

yea.. i updated my firmware to 3.05 this morning.. and so far it works great.. and i think the camera improved a little more.... what i mean by that is it looks to be able to pick up things better in dimmer lights now.. thats what i noticed so far...

btw hofo_mofo did you get your treo unlocked?
