Anyone have any good suggestions on the removal of the Boxwave screen protector for cleaning purposes? It's a great protector but the tip that they use on the boxwave website on removal seems kinda weird.

any tips? i seem to have gotten a few dust particles under the screen protector a few seconds after i removed the adhesive backing

i used tape - not Scotch tape though, and it didn't come off! ××××.

guess i have to go out and buy an air can and Scotch tape.

btw, how long did it take for the protector to dry after you ran it under the tap hofo?

well thats why i had the compressed air...i blew away the beeded water

nice tip. thanks.

the problem occurred not because there was dust on the screen - i had the original plastic sticky thing that came with the treo all this time. the problem occured because dust just attracted to the screen protector itself in mid air, as i was lowering it to the treo

hard to find dust free area

I wonder how much IBM charges to rent time in one of those dust-free rooms...

i was told by a geek that the washroom is one of the best places to do dust-free opreations. obviously not after a warm shower because moisture is worse than dust in most cases haha.
the reason why a washroom is good is because the moisture present in the air would normally just bring the dust to the ground and keep it there. also there is not much air movement. just make sure your windows are closed.

bought a pack of Scotch Magic Tape and Air can. I couldn't even get the screen protector off, let alone remove the dust! lol
How on earth did you guys remove the screen protector using the scotch tape trick?

UGH. My experience and tips below:

1. I removed the boxwave again because I didn't have it aligned right. So off it came and I ran the screen protector under the facet. Pulled out the aircan to send short bursts of air to push the droplets of air left behind but then, my air can died

2. Without an aircan, there is almost no way to get the boxwave on the treo dust free. trust me, i tried!!!

3. with a new air can in tow, i ran the boxwave under the water again. making a ring with my index finger and thumb, i held the boxwave by the edge between the ring i made with my finger and thumb and sent short bursts of air from the can to push the droplets of the boxwave.

PROBLEM 1: between the time the drops are gone and the time i bring the boxwave to the treo 600, it inevitably picks up a dust particle or two (or 10).

I tried to repeat step 3 about five times but there is almost no way to avoid dust particles.

Advantages of boxwave: removable if you misaligned the thing the first time. It's washable.

Disadvantages: almost impossible to get it dust free due to sticky surface, which basically drove me insane!

Conclusion:

1. When your brand new treo 600 arrives in the mail, just make sure you DO NOT REMOVE the rudimentary screen protector that comes with it UNTIL you are ready to place the screen protector on it.

2. Remove rudimentary protector and immediately, and I MEAN IMMEDIATELY, place your brand new Boxwave protector on it. With both Boxwave and Treo 600 screen dust free at this point, this is the only way you can ensure the whole operation is dust free.

3. MAKE SURE YOU ALIGN IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.

4. If you screwed up step 3, get ready to go through what I did - air can and facet

hope the tips help!
