I'm interested in getting the silver 8250 look full housing for my 8290 from daydeal.com. Does anyone have this? If so, does it fit well? Thanks, Jordan

My wifey got just the faceplate but the keys don't work too well...the lower keys (*, 0, #) need to be pushed extra hard...also the up arrow needs to be pushed hard, too...by hard I mean a lot harder than usual. It would have been better if they made the keys slightly different or slightly larger to accomodate for the slight differences between the 8290 and the 8250...but, whatever...she likes it but not enough to keep using it every single day...

hey NuG050, i got the 8250 look alike face plate and i read somewhere in this forum that when you put an aftermarket faceplate all you gotta do is loosen the two middle screws by the keypads and it should work fine.

i got my 8250 face from GSMsquare.com in hong kong and i like this particular one because i got one from here in the US and their buttons are rubber. but the one i got from hong kong, it is hard plastic, feels like an original keypad.

hope that little tip there works for your wife....

Save your money, short of Original Nokia faceplates, the only ones I found that generally fit well are the translucent iMac-type Nokia 8310 look plates from Daydeal. The buttons were just utterly horrible on the Nokia 8250 look plates from daydeal.

I did manage to find one particular type of Nokia 8250-look plates (Not from Daydeal though) however and it fits like a dream. I don't know what the plate is composed of, but the LEDs shine right through the plate as if it's not even there (at least on my Silver one, I haven't tried any of the darker colours). The keys are a little firmer, and has a more bouncy tactile feel, and the up, down, talk and end keys are smaller, but nothing really to complain about. Oh yeah the keys also have parts of asian characters (presumably for text input I'm guessing) but the plate does give me the look that I want.

Nokia4Life: Yeah, we did that, too. It wasn't so much as the buttons didn't work, it was just that the buttons weren't aligned properly with the contacts so you had to push them upwards instead of straight down as you would normally...it was more of an inconvenience...it looked really nice but wifey doesn't think it's worth the hassle all the time...it's a good show piece, but that's about it...

Generally, it fits perfect without a problem...no hassles, pop the stock one off and pop the aftermarket one on...it's the buttons...and the button holes...the lights shine through the holes, making it look like a cheap piece...the stock ones fill the holes completely and it doesn't shine through...oh well...maybe it shines through cuz we got the lights changed on her phone cuz the lights are brighter than stock...hmmm...

Hey HarryTse, where did you get the 8250 look face plate that you speak highly of? Can you give us the site?

What? and share my secrets of the universe? Actually I bought them from Vancouver.

After my daydeal incident, I don't buy faceplates off the Internet before unless I see them first hand unless they're directly from Nokia.
