i've searched throughout this section/forum... can't seem to figure it out.. i was able to get into all the menus... i.e Engineering and all that other stuff...

but i can't seem to figure out how to tell if my S40 is locked or not...

I bought it from Rogers and i assume that the phone is locked... actually, i'm positive that it is locked... but i heard somewhere that the international frequencies aren't locked... so that if i take my phone to europe, it'll still work...

i know on a T28w there is a menu that shows the locks, is there not a similar menu on the s40??? would i just have to get another sim and test it???

could somebody please shed some light on this for me... or at least point me to a thread with some info...

thanks

much appreciated

As far I know, there is no way to lock certain frequencies on a phone. There are four locks: SIM, Corporate, Network and... I forget the last but It's definitely not a frequency lock. Your S40 from rogers is definitely SIM locked.

jus to clarify.. what i mean by frequency is that here in NA i believe we run on 1900 and in Europe and Asia i believe it is 900/1800...

and i am almost positive that i've see on the T28w that u can lock each individual region/zone... i might be mistaken on this but i recall seeing a menu that had the locks on it...

my question is this, i bought my phone from Rogers, is it completely locked to Rogers? i.e. i can't use the phone in Asia/Europe?

SIM locked means it can only be used with a Rogers SIM, correct???

thanks in advance

I understood what you meant by frequency lock and I'm still sure that it's not possible with any phone. There is a menu that has locks on it on all ericssons but there is no frequncy lock. Your S40 is SIM locked. No SIM card other than a Rogers SIM card will work in your phone.
