How to get frequently used contact at top of alphabet?

I used this trick on my old Nokia, and it worked great. But this phone likes to do the opposite. What I'm talking about is suppose you have 5 names starting with the letter A. The one that's 4th is the one you call lots. So instead of scrolling down all the A's to get to it each time you want to call it, I put a period in the name, and it used to bump it to first place.
For example: A.miro
But the SE phone considers a space, or period, as the last letter of its alphabet i guess, and ends up slotting that name at the end of the A's.
Anyone got a trick for me?

Well, you could either use speed dial (arrange the entries on your sim card however you want, basically, and entries 1 through 9 have speed dial), or do a double-A trick (ie. if the name is Adam, type AAdam or something of the sort).
*EDIT* edited to take out typo (accidental space)

PS It's not just for making calls. For sending text messages to the people I SMS the most, it would also be very handy. The double A technique might be the only one with the SE that works. Just not as discreet as A.miro. You can barely tell the period is there.
Anyone else?

Does anyone else have any other tips, or what they do?

I keep mine at the *bottom*. Do a joystick DOWN UP and there they are.
I get them to the bottom using spaces at the front of the entry.

I do the same thing, but i put a - in front of the name... this is what i do for my bluejack message, so that it's fewer keystrokes to bluejack... so for example, the last message in my phonebook is -"you've been bluejacked by ollywompus" or whatever.
