I was working on my slider the other day and the LCD won't turn on anymore... it seems to light up in the back, but it stays black and nothing changes... Anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Please help.

YOu pulled out your ribbon cable, take it apart again, and try to reseat the cable (at the other end, not the LCD end),
I had the same problem,

Did your phone completely stop working or was it just the lcd.. because the sounds on mine work.. i can dial.. I can turn it on and off... I can slide it and I hear the sliding sounds... its just that the lcd stays black and won't show anything.

had the exact same probem after changing the faceplate. definitely think it was caused by inadvertent damage to the ribbon cable. your best bet is to bring it back to your provider and get a replacement on the spot under the phone's warranty. obviously don't mention any mods you may have attempted to make.

Is there anyway I can just purchase the cable... It must be the cable....

I would check to make sure the ribbon is completely connected all the way in the phone if it isn't the screen wont work. If the cable is damaged you will more than likely be able to see where it is damaged.
They will not allow you to purchase a new ribbon for the phone unless you spend at least $150 AND are a wireless provider. Kyocera does provide parts to viastar (http://www.viastarwireless.com/home/) but they will not allow you to purchase the parts, only to repair the phone for you.
My understanding is that they repair the phone less than kyocera, but if you still have a warentee you should be able to send it in to get fixed or bring it back to the store where you purchased it.

How much would it cost to repair....

i dont think any would actually just repair it, and when it happened to me every thing worked as well just the lcd, i could make calls, i could hear everything just the screen.
