Can you change default "shortcut" keys on Verizon Slider?

I hate the default directional pad shortcuts that Verizon sticks us with:

E: Get It Now -- like I don't give them enough money every month already!

S: Text messaging -- 10 cents to send? 2 cents to even receive?? Aargh! And if I want to check my voicemail, I'll just hit "1".

W: Mobile web -- see Get It Now

Anybody working on or figured out how to change them?

Thanks.

Best I can think is enough of us have to complain to VZW, and maybe a petition, I don't know.

The only reason I can see they crippled the phone in the first place, besides greed, is to make the navigation compatible with every other phone they sell.

Like I can't learn different functionalities of different phones if I decide to buy a different model?

Shouldn't the main reason for carrying different models is so we can decide what features are most important to us?

It does appear that there is finally an option to make the games menu visible in the programming software, but I still haven't seen any options for changing the 3 shortcut keys.

The best a person could do is disable/hide the browser and brew options, and I don't know if that would revert the shortcuts back or just hide the actual menu options.

This is why I spent my money on a US Cellular programmed phone rather than a VZW model!

As far as I know, you can't change the direction on any of the sliders from any carrier. The only exception would be the N option. The various carrier have changed them to do different things though. The standard from kyo is as follows: E=silent mode, S=recent calls, W=web browser, and N=your choice.
