Just took it off the cradle haven't set any of the BB stuff as yet just the voice portion.
Its pretty intuitive for a gadget geek to operate, but if you are not, read the manuals carefully, I help setup mine , and no I forgot all the important codes
Having come from a PPC and Hiptop, I can say either thumbboard or hand recognition is quite easy to learn.
The physical size is the same or close to an Ipaq 2210 but the screen is smaller with great backlighting.
The thumboard is easy to work but if you have fat fingers, go with the PPC 5050the thumboard is similar to a normal keyboard but I think the Hiptops was easier to work, remembering, this is the first time I am using one.

The main screen is well laid out and other than typing, you can pretty much operate everything else with the scroll wheel.
It may take a few more steps than a PPC, but once you get use to it, things go faster.
I tested the voice portion, earpiece was clean, could be a bit louder, seems like the earbud is louder, directional than the built in earpiece. Outgoing was clear and clean but too me sounded like I was listening to you in an empty room.
I going to setup all my emails and hopefully can find a freebie browser, saw a freebie in Handango, going to try that one.
The built of the unit is quite good, the cradle and travel charger are both USB connected.

The printed manuals are lacking, I need printed manuals for referencing rather than loading up the CD or heck printing all of it out . There's a lot for me to relearn here might take awhile to be fully comfortable with things other than email, SMSl and browsing.

I'm also looking at getting a Blackberry for the first time. I have some questions:

1. How's the reception for voice? I carry both a phone (v60ci) and an IPAQ now, and would like a converged device, but not at the expense of voice quality.

2. Are you able to access Hotmail? If so, how? Is it through the Mobile Browser, or some other viewer?

3. How about POP mail?

4. Does it sync well with Outlook?

That's it for now. I'm debating on either getting this puppy now, or waiting a few more months for the new IPAQ 6300.

Thanks in advance.

Voice quality is average, but clean meaning no static and Rf is as excellent as any other stand alone phone. If you're coming from a penbased device, maybe you should wait for the PPC5050...i suggest you get your hands on one first before you decide

2. Are you able to access Hotmail? If so, how? Is it through the Mobile Browser, or some other viewer?

yes, i can forward Hotmail to the BB,my Rogers and Sympatico, also a few others...BUT no Yahoo, they require you now to subscribe to forward their mail

3. How about POP mail?
yes

4. Does it sync well with Outlook?
Very well for me so far, haven't seen or found any glitches as yet

There is the PPC5050 which i originally ordered, but it backordered for my dealer, that probably not everywhere...this is great if you do a lot of email,texting...i'm looking for a web browser...WAP is just too slow and a waste of the 1X space.

Thanks in advance.

can't find a proper webbrowser for the BB7750 seems like almost everything is for GPRS. I'm downloading a multi IM "Webmessenger"...lol seems stuck while registering?

Help anyone else has a BB7750 on Bell or even telus with some applications

thanks

You are going to run into issues running the WebMessenger. You need access to a BES with MDS for that application to work.

yup just read the thread over in the RIM section...and correct me if i'm wrong...BellMobility doesn't provide a BES & MDS for non-corporate users ...this device is not for me...PPC5050 is what i would need

guess unlimited data is useless to me also if i can't use it ...stuck on WAP...only emails works well al but Yahoo who require a subscription :rolleyes2

a mint BB7750 going up for sale soon

Posted by: rip

hahah, talked with the BM tech, says any 3rd party webviewer will work even if i don't have BES or/& MDS, so i load up the trial version of webviewer again...then about 10 mins later i uninstall again :rolleyes2 hahah *sighs*

Everyone is looking at doing a hosted BES/MDS service. Check out the RIM forum there are a few third pary ones out there.

Okay this is now growing on me and I don't know why? Thanks DG I did browse their before I. Got the device, I can pretty much live with it now, I hope BM adds more app solutions for us non-corporate users. I as most of us here will still be hunting for that perfect integrated mobile device. I,m still going to get that 5050 and the 600 when it hits the syores

Rip, try itrezzo. You can get the multi IM webmessenger. You can have all your IM's from Yahoo, Icq, MSn etc all on one.

Thanks, does it reqire a subscription to BES & MDS too? Did you get the iden version? Bellmobility/Rim we need apps that don't need a subscription thru either BES or MDS!
Day 3 and i've pretty much learned everything on this device including most of the key shortcuts going to keep it now, just need to find something other than WAP to browse on.

i think i noticed while WAP browsing on HoFo, some threads that have a certain number of views or replies gives an error "Abort too big a file"...don't know if it's a BB or HoFoWAP restriction...posted this also on the HoFo WAP thread.

Also just using WriteRights screen protectors from my PPC HP2210 trimed just a little to fit the BB7750's screen works good enough...there are others made for the BB but i have 12 sheets per package with the WriteRights while the others are i believe only 1sheet...why waste

Any chance you would have tested the 7280 on GSM/GPRS? I'm curious to see how the 2 compare.

Posted by: rip

treatz and a few others have one on Rogers...the WAP speed should be the same but the 7780 is the one to compare the 7750 against...soon to come DG got a sneak peek at the post off Rogers site but it was gone after he posted it

after looking at both and the reviews they posted, i'd only get the 7730 triband (unlocked) for world travel, if you're considering GSM
