Unbarring

Is there anyway of unbarring my phone without going to my service provider cos they wont do it as i never bought the phone from new (i should have known a 7250i for £20 in the pub was too good to be true)

not sure what it's like in the UK, but if a phone is reported lost/stolen and subsequently blacklisted ot barred with a provider, it doesn't necessarily mean it's blacklisted with another provider
