does the slider not charge the phone if your on the phone talking? my phone was going dead while i was on it and i plugged it into the charger expecting it to charge while i was on it.. but the phone died on me.
If it doesnt charge while talking on it, is there a way to fix this so it does?
also.. do they sell a base style charger so i can buy a spare batter and always keep it charged so i can have a backup battery?

Nope, the phone doesnt charge if your talking on it, I don't see why it died though, if it was plugged in to the charger it should have stayed on, even if the battery was dead.

I also do not like the fact that you can't put the phone into silent mode when you charge it. Because of this, every night before I go to sleep I have to go into ringer volume settings and put it all the way down to the last notch and make the phone is resting on something flat to muffle out the ringing. Then of course I have to put it back up to normal when I wake up, which I often forget to do every now and then and miss calls. I don't understand what the problem was when designing this phone that prevents it from being put in silent mode when it's being charged. Pain in the ××× if you ask me..

Well,
I think I fkud my slider up when I opened and change cases the first time then.
I can talk on the phone without a battery [charger connected]
I plugged the phone into the jack outlet, then I slide the battery out and voila, the phone stays on without the battery displaying, I did this leaving the phone overnight, after doing this too, I also notice that I can set it into vibrate only mode, so before I go to sleep I don't get annoyed by someone waking me up at 10am
.
Downside: My powersave mode doesn't work no more, if I set it ON the light goes out, and in OFF mode, the lights are on
but as regular dim and also my top buttons dont light (arrow keys and answer/hangup buttons) , meaning I lost my high beams ...
ahhhh big deal uh? it used hella of my battery anyway.
Don't ask me how or what did I do cause I really don't know, I'm not a techy guy I just followed MetroPieceofshi's signature how to take apart, and from there I've been changing phone cases (pics soon). All I need is matching battery and antennas (blue and black hopefully) and get some ringtones
with my cable (if I find the drivers for a LG VX6000).

I noticed that the phone works without the battery if it is plugged in, so I thought I could trick the phone by plugging it in, then taking out the battery mid-call. I naturally assumed that the power would just switch over to the a/c when it didn't sense the battery. Alas, as soon as the battery came off, the power went dead (and ended the call, of course) even though it was plugged in.
I guess the only way to work around this is to tell the other person that you'll call them right back, end the call, take out the battery, plug in the phone, and call them back. Which would work fine if you're talking to a friend, but can you imagine if you were talking to your bank or cable company after being on hold for 40 minutes? And given the sub-par battery life I've been getting on my three-week-old slider, I just know this situation is bound to happen soon.
There HAS to be some way to cheat this.

theres 3 chargers for the slider.
the standard one that comes in the box, TXACA10002
and the travel charger, TXTVL10040
and the car adaptor, TXCLA10022
the travel charger will allow you to talk with no battery
the standard charger will only charge
the car charger will allow you to talk and charge at the same time

Just to confirm before I shell out the money for a travel charger: if I pop the battery mid-call with the charger plugged in, will it end my call?
If so, I don't see any difference, behavior-wise, between the standard and the travel.

I am curious, in the past I have always purchased the off brand cheap chargers (not the expensive branded chargers) - do you think this matters? I think not personally.
It seems you can buy cheap or branded:
-Rapid Car Charger or basic car charger
-Rapid Travel Charger or basic travel charger
Do you think it matters if OEM or branded becuase you can save nearly 50% on cost.
Also, any reason why no desktop charger for this SE47?

well, oem chargers are guaranteed to work. if a 3rd party charger fries your phone, your warranty is void. always a good reason to buy oem eq
desktop charger? usability study probably showed that it wouldnt be profitable enough for it to be worth them making it. the slider isnt billed as being a phone for a business type person, as the 3245/3250 and 3225 are (theres a desktop charger for those)
