hey guys i was just wondering if its possible to lets say....i have verizon wireless service with the LG VX6000 is it possible to have a different phone that is not featured on the
www.verizonwireless.com, like a nextel phone (motorola i730)....im a "newb" at this whole cell phone business TIA

Well, you can't use the i730 because it is an IDEN technology phone, where Verizon uses CDMA. To find out the specs on a specific phone try this site:

I'm not sure, but from your question I think you're wanting to use different phones with your same phone carrier/number? You can do that with a GSM phone (Cingular, ATT&T, T-mobile, and others) because the phone has a SIM card in it that contains all of your carrier specific info, your call plan info, phone #, etc. (to put it simply). If you have another GSM phone all you have to do is move your SIM card from one phone to the other (as long as it's unlocked, but that's another subject). That's the beauty of GSM.

Now, I'm not sure about this since I've never used Verizon, but I THINK they would have to program a phone for it to work. You may want to ask more specific questions in the Verizon forum. Hope this helps a little.
