transfering mp3's 6230

i'm having troubles transfering mp3's onto my nokia 6230 using a DKU-2 usb cable. as in it wont let me. Tries to transfer to the phone itself and says not enough space Any1 know how to fix this?

Posted by: Marcos

I found that the phone needs the space free in the phone memoery in order to trasnfer to the MMC.

So if you were to transfer a 5mb song to the MMC, you'd need 5mb free in the phone memory.

I dont know if you can set it so that it goes straight to the MMC without buffering in the phone, but if you got yourself a card reader, they seem to work good, just using drag and drop

Wirelessly posted (Nokia 6230: Nokia6230/2.0 (03.14) Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

Use a mmc reader/writer instead! Much easyer!

i'd also like to know how to do this.... i have a big mmc...512 mb, a duk-2, and tonnes of mps ..... can this really not be done ??? only i cant be bothered to buy a card reader.....

Posted by: Crudeboy

I tried BT, but keep saying error in transferring - could be there is not enough space in my phone memory. I prefer this method - any tips appreciated.

Using card reader is probably the easiest, but taking the battery out to access the card is such a pain when you have to do it often... Esp with my back cover is not as east to remove, it feels very tight even whilst pressing the cover button down.

Cant wait for my 1GB MMC...

Dont tell me you plan on uploading 1GB through BT

it might be a pain...but "1GB mmc" how often can you add things to that.....1 maybe 2 a month. music doesnt come out faster than that....whateva.

I was thinking... 1GB card will solve my problem... but I would want to maybe delete some and add some others, with the current standard 32 MB, I have to open the card and take it out everytime...

Posted by: cerver7

true. but i have the same thing with my 3300...i got used to it.

Posted by: toolhead

i have a 512mb mmc card. i use a card reader, and loading the whole thing takes 10 mins. now i use BT to transfer 1 or 2 songs every now and then when i want to change it. but if i want to change a lot, i use the card reader.

Posted by: cerver7

good plan toolhead.....but bt still gets tricky at times....little buggy still. but whatever works for you

Posted by: Slash

what's the best tool to use to transfare files between the PC and 6230

and what's the best way of transfaring files...

thx

Posted by: toolhead

best tool/way is card reader...

for sending via BT i just right click the file, send to -> bluetooth -> phone.... as long as there's free room on the phone, as it transfers to the phone, then save to mmc.

if you need to BT right to the mmc, mobimb from logomanager does the trick.

Posted by: cerver7

best way is card reader....then bt....then cable...then ir.

Thanks toolhead.... yes BT is good to move just a few files... will look at mobimb from logomanager...

Anyways when u transfer an mp3 file to the phone via BT, it will go to the phone first, then ask u to save - then u just save it in the MMC card, hence the space required in transition?

Cheers.

I have used quite a number of phones before, due to work and personal interest, I think 6230 is the best so far!

I found that Nero 6 will do the AAC too......

will iTunes AAC files be able to be played in the 6230? Most of my music I have ripped with iTunes to put on my iPod. I am gonna be pretty annoyed if I have to rerip music with Nero to put it on my 6230...

Posted by: manta1

I have ripped my CD's with Nokia Audio Manager and those ripped files are visible at least in my PC as .aac files in Windows Explorer. If you have Nokia PC Suite (includes Audio Manager) are you able to open your .aac files to Audio manger ? if yes, then you can at least move your aacs to 6230 with that (and create playlists to 6230 also)

I just bought a dku-2 data cable, and then I started learning more about my 6230 and found this website. I have a dell dimension so yeah, those things usually don't come with card readers. I always saw computers with those card readers and didn't really get what they were for. I mean I don't have a digital camera so yeah.

So you guys are saying card reader is best, then BT? what is BT? Bittorrent? And cable is next which is what I have.

Also another question. you guys buy 512 or 1gb mmc cards so you can put music on your phone. but then how do you listen to it? through the speakerphone or through a headset? I was looking at some of the headsets and they are only for one ear, so its not like headphones. I am thinking it wouldn't be as cool to listen to music on just one ear? Am i missing something here? Fill me in guys. This site is great.

use a card reader for one...... for 2 u have to format your card to fat32 your phone formats fat16 that could be an issue i have a kingmax 1gb card i use a dku-2 cable to transfer granted its not the fastest but when im sleeping its fast enough i set the list before i got to bed and in the morning its up and running love it one issue i had filling up the card is it only holds so much text so if you have songs with title and artist and song name u might have a issue getting all of them to fit i found changing them to shorter variations works fine other then that i love my 6230 payed 139$ for it and its pimp PEACE

I have a 1Gb card but for some reason it will only transfer mp3 files up to 501mb limit and then it states its out out of memory. On looking at the memory card in the card reader it shows loads of free space
Any iseas

For me the best tool is BT or you can use card reader also ... both have different functionalities...

Hey, I have the 6682 and when my friend tried to send me one of his mp3 ring tones from his razr over bluetooth, it gets automatically put in message inbox. However from there i can't set it as a ring tone just listen to it. I tried to use the newest PC Suit and those rings simply dont show up in the inbox. Is there anyway to receive ringtones over bluetooth from other phones and be able to actually use them as ringtones?

Thank You
Bart.
