With my newer 8900 there are two files. ERI_binary.bin and ERI_binary2.bin. If you are trying to disable the Verizon banner, rename your downloaded ERI file to ERI_binary.bin if it's not called that already and replace the file with that name on your phone. I downloaded ERI_binary2.bin and replaced that one on my phone and the banner was still there (go figure) but I had backed it up before hand so was able to restore the original.

Ok, THE MAN only gives me 120 minutes to update my posts so I'm forced to reply to my own thread.

So I figured out what the ERI_binary2.bin file is. If you create your own banner using the menu options it creates that file. And possibly an ERI_binary3.bin or 4 or 5 or whatever.

Anyway, the ERI file I downloaded was ERI_binary2.bin which I renamed to ERI_binary.bin and it worked for me.
