Hi there,
I need help ASAP. I am currently owning a Nokia 3530 (a.k.a Nokia 3510i in Europe) and I am
simply bored of this phone. Its big, it's color display is poor, the polyphonic ringtones are
pathetic, MMS is crippled, etc. etc. etc.
And since my parents aren't gonna allow me to spend even one cent on buying a new one. So, the
only option left with me is downgrading by exchanging this one. As you see, the 3530 has many
features which I do not use and it does not have some features that I really want, like
Speakerphone.

So, i checked out the local website and I am able to get a Panasonic GD-55.
Now, i read reviews of this phone on sites like howardchui.com, imobile.com.au, mobile-review, CNetAsia etc.
and I got mixed feelings from all these sites. While Howardchui and CnetAsia suggest that the phone has
poor RF performance, mobile-review mentiones that it's reception is 'good'. And imobile.com.au does not
mention anything about RF. WTF? So, all the GD55 users, what is your opinion on this? And if
this problem is genuine, can it be fixed by firmware upgrade?
Secondly, the reviews suggest that the phone software experiences lag, can this be fixed by a
firmware upgrade?
Also, i wanted to confirm whether it is not possible to download Ringtones and pictures via
WAP in this phone. Does it have dedicated memory for storing these?
Lastly, any other loopholes that you'd want to tell me? How is the OS of this phone,
can a Nokian like me adjust to it?

Thank you.

I just got one, my second one actually. See, I had one months ago which I traded for a much nicer phone only to sell on ebay to make a profit on. I made money on the deal, however since then I kinda missed the little sucker.

Ok I own a SE T610 as my MAIN phone, I got the gd55 as a backup-plaything-toy phone. Sure it doesnt have much features, however it makes and recieves calls....what else do you need.

Anyway, the RF is about average to kinda poor. It cant touch a newer phone, but remember it is about 3yrs old and STILL the smallest phone in the world. Thats the first problem I have with it, second is the voice (earpiece) volume is really low, even on "high" setting. This is easily overcome by putting the speakerphone on, which is kinda a hassle in itself cause you have to go thru about 2 menus to activate it once the call has begun.

As far as I know, there is no way to upload ANYTHING to this phone...ringers, backgrounds, firmware (if any exist)... Not that I could care about the first two, however if a new(er) firmware ver existed that fixed some potential problems with it, I would be all over that.

Sooo is it worth it....I would have to say, yes. NOT as your main phone thou, but as a backup or a toy. I would VERY much recommend this if you are trying to pick up girls...

That is where this phone REALLY shines!!! Ok, you go to a bar, set down your wallet and phone on the bar. Next thing you know: "Wow is that a real phone?" or"Hey thats cute".

Great way to break the ice and start conversation, TRUST ME!!!

Would be kinda cool, but u see, i am a college student. I can't afford to keep 2 phones at the same time.

Anyways, I'll take ur word for it and go for the GD55.

Thanx for the reply.
