using a Panasonic GD55 from safaricom in the USA

Does anyone know how to go about using a GD55 from Safaricom in Nairobi, Kenya here in the USA?

as long as the phone is unlocked you can buy a sim card from tmobile, cingular or at&t and activate it that way. i think tmobile would be the best cause the gd55 doesn't have a 850 band on it.
also in ure phones menu under network you have to select 1900mhz
