wooohoooo! I got bitpim and the usb cable to work! Now I like my 8900 MUCH better!

Thanks to everyone on here who provided the info needed to get this to work!

I am having so much fun playing with it now!

No more white borders, and any wallpaper and ringtones that I want!

Check this out:

I am going to start making a bunch of 128 x 145 wallpapers (mostly anime and fantasy ) to share

I've had my phone for quite the while and have been following just about every 8900 Thread that there is. I have the cord and bitpim and have some ringtones in the folder... But they just wont show up in the downloaded or sounds Folder, does anyone know any way to get them in there?

You have to save the new one OVER one that's already on your phone.

So I'm Guessing that if you only have 1 ringtone you can only use 1...?

Synergie1,

How did you get your time/date stamp to scroll all the way across your screen? mine is in a box to the lower right of my phone and Id much rather have it right above my menu/contacts.

I asked that before I did a search and found your other thread about the time/date thing, so Ive been looking around, seems I found where it saves your greeting message so I figure maybe the time/date width/height is saved somewhere around there too because its on the same screen.

So far nothing, but do me a favor and copy/paste me your MMS/Master file, for comparison.

Heres mine:
00000000 10 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
00000010 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 0e 00 00 00 ................
00000020 00 00 00 00 ....

I didn't make the date/time look like this. ALL of TELUS customers have the date/time display like this. Though I agree our version looks much better than Verizon's, I'd like to get rid of the box around it all together... and just have the black text.

Also, I think our file systems are different, I looked through the MMS directory and did not see a Master File at all.

Here is a screen Cap of my MMS directory on the phone, with all subdirs expanded so you can see:

wow mine is definately different than yours...

Heres what mine looks like (too lazy to screenshot it):

-MMS
1
1.bak
3
Master
-OM
(all my downloaded midi files here)

Syn, I think I found where it keeps the desktop (so to speak) saved settings.

Check and see if youve got a directory named nvm then sub dir named nvm then files named nvm_000#, if so find the file named "nvm_hei" and throw it my way.

I need HELP! I have the data cable and bitpim but I can't seem down download or upload anything to or from my phone! How can I do this? I have tried several things. I have learned a lot from your messages. You guys are great. I have the 8900 and I'd like to be able to use the data cable to do stuff, but I cant seem to get it to work. What should I do? What is the correct procedure?

Just a side note ... In the help section of Bitpim version 0.7 it says that it doesn't support the 8900. I can't even get my phone's files to show up on the thing or replace files that are there or whatever. How do I gain access to my 8900 phone?

Thanks.

Here is what is in my nvm directory:

-nvm
----- $SYS.ESN
------$SYS.INVAR1
------$SYS.INVAR2
------$SYS.INVAR3

that's it that's all! Not even any subdirectories...

Search Through the Audiovox Forums and find the drivers and it should be a 2 letter and 3 number thing and i think its tk650 or something like that... so just get the driver and install them to your computer and when you use bitpim... (just get test 8) go to edit and settings and search in com port by hitting browse and look for the port thats used curitel something... should have 2 trues and should say modem... if that doesn't work... Well thats what the forums are for
