Windows XP Crash with Charging USB Cable

I bought a charging USB cable from RPI for my VX6000, and I've been having a lot of trouble with it.

I followed the directions precisely, first installing the LG USB drivers from the 1xpress website (the only drivers that work for this cable), and then by plugging in my phone.

Regardless of what I do, after the phone is detected as a USB device and the drivers load up, my computer freezes within 5 seconds. I am running WinXP, and this problem must be affecting others.

I tried changing port settings in my phone from RS232 to USB, and port speed from 230kbps to 115kbps. Nothing works.

Does anybody know how to get this cable working right with WinXP? Is there some certain way to do it? DO I need my phone's firmware flashed or something?

BTW - If you want this charging USB cable, don't buy it from RPI. I have tried many times to email and call RPI and I get absolutely no response. You can get the same cable at Tangshop.com for less. It is in no way exclusive to RPI.

Make sure your charging usb cable is plugged into the back of your machine, or into a POWERED usb hub (a usb hub with its own ac adapter). If you plug your charging usb cable into a splitter or shared usb adapter it will draw too much current and crash your computer. I had this same problem when I plugged mine into the back of my usb keyboard (the keyboard plugs into the back of the computer and then the keyboard has two usb ports of its own - one for usb mouse, one for whatever). These ports are fine for low current applications like a mouse or a regular usb phone cable, but NOT for a charging usb cable.

It still doesn't work, regardless of the port I try. I have a powered hub, and I also tried the back of the computer directly.

Some other guy said the problem was a conflict with another USB device...or that it won't work if there are any other USB devices connected. For me, that is a major inconvenience, as I have a USB mouse and KB, so I cannot unplug every USB device just to use the phone.

I still consider this cable "broken" since it does not work properly. I wish there was a fix for this.

Along with this cable I have a usb keyboard, usb mouse, usb numpad, usb gravis gamepad, usb epson inkjet printer, and usb sony dye sublimation printer. (and a powered hub, obviously). I did notice you're using the wrong driver (or at least a different driver from me). Try: http://www.futuredial.com/support/d...20Installer.exe from this page http://www.futuredial.com/support/u...ers/Drivers.htm It will unzip everything to "C:\Program Files\FutureDial\USB Installer." Then run setup.exe in that directory. When you plug your cable in, direct Winxp to use the drivers in the "C:\Program Files\FutureDial\USB Installer\Drivers\LG5350\winxp" folder. (Yes, use 5350 drivers for VX6000).

Thanks, those drivers fixed my problem. I didn't know the 5350 were the ones to try.

Now how do I go about getting some games on my phone?

Unfortunately, the VX6000 is encrypted. If you put a game from someone else's phone on it, it will get deleted immediately. Apparently you could copy games with the 4400, but not with the 6000
