4500 data cable woes

Hello- I made the mistake of buying a data cable for my vx4500 off ebay- I haven't been able to properly install the drivers or use bitpim. From my understanding and my searching through the messages, after loading the drivers, a new com port should be listed in the device properties, and it should not be listed as a new usb port. Is that correct? My PC was also seeing the Data Cable as a "wave device for voice modem"under "IC+56k External Data Fax Voice USB Modem". This is NOT right is it? I've tried the Drivers on the CD that came with the Data Cable, the Futuredial drivers, and the Verizon drivers; I'm connected through direct usb port . I can't seem to get any of them to work. Hope I made sense. I've used bitpim w/ my 4400 before so I'm not a total newb, and yes I've downloaded the most recent BitPim and deleted all the old Bitpim .62 info. Phone was set to port is RS-232, speed is 115200. What am I doing wrong? I'm so stuck~ Someone help

Thanks,
Nicole

Thanks for the reply- I just got the fix from the VX4500 yahoo group. I'm running Win98 SE and It's a Generic cable (Certified HI Speed USB?) Anyways- It was the drivers on the CD that were faulty and just weren't loading right. The drivers here: http://tech.prolific.com.tw/visitor...sp?fid=29457078
on prolific technologies tech support website (http://tech.prolific.com.tw/) worked. So I hope this helps anyone else having problems with their drivers-

Thanks for reading
