Data cable problem for 6070

Ok, I'm a n00b when it comes to this, so if you could give me a bit of help I'd appreciate it. I have an LG 6070 from Telus.

Got the data cable (from what I understand it should work with my 6070, it's compatible with the vx-4500, 4600, 4010, 4011 and 4050). It's the USB to serial one (has the box in the middle).

I also got BitPim and have it set up to the VX6000 which I understand has the same filesystem as my phone.

If I try to access any functions (filesystem for example) all I get is this error:

An unexpected exception has occurred.
Please see the help for details on what to do.

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "gui.pyo", line 152, in run
File "gui.pyo", line 92, in __call__
File "gui.pyo", line 1181, in dirlisting
File "com_brew.pyo", line 150, in getfilesystem

File "com_phone.pyo", line 100, in setmode
File "com_brew.pyo", line 292, in _setmodebrew
File "com_brew.pyo", line 350, in sendbrewcommand
CommsWrongPort: LG-VX6000: The port you are using is echoing data back, and is not valid for Brew data. Most likely you have selected the modem interface when you should be using the diagnostic interface.

Which would lead me to believe the cable is 'seeing' the phone but not connecting properly. I've gone though about every onepossible combinations of settings for the connection in my phone but to no avail. What am I doing wrong?

For reference the settings I can change in the phone are:
"Connection" (off) (fax) (data)
"Method" (USB) (RS-232C[COM Port]) (Closed)
"Speed" (19200bps) (115200bps) (230400bps)

Any insights or help?

Thnx,

-Riley

Riley,

I ahve not tested the 6070 on the data cable you mentioned However I tested it today with the LGVX6000 USB data cable and it worked perfectly.
I noticed that you will have to manually change the COM setting in Hardware Devices on the USB device to a COM less than 10.
Put it to 5 or something and it should work if you have the right cable. The VX6000 drivers work great.
I have a cable available for $25.00USD if you're interested.

Thanks, but I've got it fixed. I had the file system type set wrong in bitpim...it seems to want to be set to VX4400 rather than VX6000. Thanks for your input, though =)

Do you have to setup anything on the Prolifit driver com port settings?
