S56 Backlight

OK, since you all did so well on my first question (and so fast!), here's another.

Unless I am missing something, there is no profile (or other) setting on the S56 that will allow you to keep the backlight on continuously. Presumably this is a power-saving "feature," but it is useful to have the backlight on while driving, for instance.

Is it possible that the firmware will override this feature if the phone is plugged into some car accessory? If so, does anyone know whether the simple car charger is enough to do the trick, or would I need one of the fancier car handsfree kits. (I had hoped buying a BT phone would mean not having to fool around with car kits any more!)

I would appreciate any insights.

hermes56,

Actually, you've touched upon something I've been curious about.

On that S56, can you disable the "screen saver" (like a clock) from coming on? Or do you have no choice?

If it CAN be disabled, will the S56 simply display the home screen (battery, RF levels) after the backlight turns off? And stay that way?

I don't think it's possible to keep the backlight on, but it is possible to turn the screensaver (clock) off!

Just go to settings and turn it off .

(menu>setup>display>screensaver> UNCHECK "enable")

Now, it'll stay on the regular screen without going to screen saver.
