8900 software system unstable??

I have read numerous posts about the CDM8900 software system being very fragile and that the phone can be rendered useless very easily. Bitpim developers also claim to have killed an 8900 trying to support it.

I wonder if Audiovox can release a software update to fix this issue and make the system more stable?? Or even if they are aware of these issues.

Obviously, people with a camera phone will want to be able to pull files off the phone and add files to the phone for ringers and wallpaper... We should innondate Audiovox with emails asking for a software update and/or an Audiovox OEM proprietary program that will allow access by data cable, and that will work without having the potential to crash the phone.

After all.... the CDM8900 IS a great phone!! I love it! The hardware is already there.... they just need to 'tweak' the software and maybe even make some minor changes in the firmware.

If that ever happens, I'd love to know about it. I've been looking for alternatives to Bitpim for quite a while.

I don't know what good ActiveSync is but that program just seems absolutely useless to me.

I'm sure they know, but will they fix it is the question. I've written to both Audiovox and Verizon about these issues.

If one of the carriers would support them, I'm sure the Bitpim developer(s) would be happy to support the CDM8900. This of course would be a good and cost-effective way to get the software developed.

ehm thats assuming they want us hexxing their firmware, that they care to begin with, and they want us to be able to load free ringtones/games/pictures to our phones without paying them...

VERY big assumptions...and remember what they say about making assumptions...

Well, talking to Verizon won't help all the Telus customers....

We have to talk to the source, Audiovox.

From what I understand, Verizon and Telus both just 'approve' what Audiovox sends them.

Therefore if we talk to Audiovox directly, they should be able to fix these things in both versions.

But I actually read a thread where someone was in contact with an Audiovox rep. I think I added some things that he might want to ask about... like the choice of 12 or 24 hr time display, and a few others.
