MOK8400 Cable and Verizon CDM8900???

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have a Verizon Wireless CDM8900 and want to get a data cable to edit and sync the address book. I'd like to change ring tones, wallpaper, etc, but really want to be able to edit the address book.

I have found the MOK8400 cable at a local store, but the guy at the store says it won't work with the Verizon phone. I looked online and some site do indeed say that this cable will not work with the Verizon phone.

Is this true? Has anyone on Verizon tried a MOK8400 cable and software?

I am not too sure about the RS cable...

But I accidentally ordered two cables, so I will have a second one and if you are interested I can sellit to you (via pay pal) and mail it to you. It's the actual Audiovox cable for this phone. I have not got it yet though, so you will have to wait a little bit. PM me if you are interested.

Just out of curiousity how much was the RS cable??

Um, I can't PM you, perhaps you have it disabled. If this is the same cable, as the one below, and ends up working with Verizon's version of the 8900 I'm very interested!

It's the cable from Audiovox and comes with the USB-to-phone cable (no box in the middle) and the software CD. I found it at 1800mobiles: http://store.yahoo.com/1800mobiles/mok8400.html

"Audiovox MOK8400 Mobile Office Kit, includes software CD and USB Connector Cable for phone book management. Connects the Audiovox CDM8400 CDM8410 CDM8450 CDM8600 CDM8615 CDM8900 CDM8910 to a PC or PDA. Price- $64.39"

On the Audiovox website there is a caple for getting pictures to/from the phone, but that's not really what I'm looking for. I'm wanting a phone book management software, moving pictures, ringtones, etc would be nice, but not really a requirement for me.

So, has anyone tried this yet?

I have contacted Audovox and they say the address book function will not work out-of-the-box....but a software upgrade available. see below:

"Yes, MOK-8400 is the correct accessory for the CDM-8910 phone but...
The Phonebook Editor Program requires updated software for CDM-8910. It will not work with this model phone "Out Of the Box".
You would need to call us at 1(800)229-1235 and speak with a rep from our Parts Department to order the Phonebook Editor version 1016 for use with CDM-8910.
The Quicklink Mobile software (for using the phone as a modem for your laptop) included in MOK-8400 will be compatible with CDM-8910 right out of the box."

yes, i'm aware you have a 8900...but you can contact them...
good luck!

Thanks Mica353,

My company changed providers so now I have a different phone. The 8900 wasn't a bad phone, I ended up buying the cable directly from Verizon and it included a phone book editor.
