I finally ordered my cable for my 8600. I was browsing the ringtones on tagtag and noticed some were mmf instead of midi's. Can the 8600 use the mmf ones or just the midi ringtones?

does anyone know? I really want to know.

only midi...

so is there any way to get ringtones with voices on the 8600? I was just wondering because my frineds phone just supports polyphonic ringtones and she got the song "in those jeans" on her phone which is pretty cool.

midi fiels obn phones are often polyphonic. Its just a file with multiple sounds on it. some of the newer phones use mp3 and other files types. i played some with this phone to see what ringers i could get as well

midis work mmf's don't but voice ringers can be made if they are in the qcp file format which is a qualcomm format i believe. i found the software on this forum i believe but look for purevoice it will convert waves to qcp files

is there any special instructions to use for files in qcp format? Actually can u go through the details with me?

Process is the same as adding a midi to the phone. which you can find in these forums. i believe you can even leave the qcp extension on the phone. i ca;t find my saved fiole onthe computer and don;t have my cab;le handy so if you need more info i'll check later hope that helps

but what i did was covert an mp3 to a wav format then coverted the wav to a qco file with purevoice pretty simple process overall i found as long as you know how to convert mp3 to wav

gagetwhore thank you. I got it working. I searched through some older post and found out how to do it.
for others here it is:

It sounds pretty decent too. Just about as good as my friends who just downloaded hers. It takes some different tricks. Just make sure for the dummy file that you replace that you made it with the record option in the voice alert part.

I tried placinging it with my midi tones and that did not work. Is there another trick to get that work?
