Anyone have the ringtone used by Tony Soprano?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: kkline

Please let me know

Posted by: chin-b0i

LOL... everytime his phone rang I always wondered that...

Posted by: chin-b0i

Nobody on the net seems to have it...
but next time I DL an episode, I'll see if there's some way I can capture it.

Posted by: spongebobjeff

Read on another board out there that it's called "Melody 1" from a Sony Ericsson T39.

I've been all over the net (including Ericsson's site) but cant find this default ringer.

Funny how Tony has a Motorola phone but his ringer is from an Ericsson.........

That's Hollywood for ya................

Posted by: jajogega

has anyone found this yet?

Posted by: buckinmi

nope still looking I want it though!!

Posted by: chin-b0i

His cell didn't ring once in he season finale... so I couldn't try to capture it.

If anyone has an episode on their computer, where it's relatively quiet when his cell rings.. try to capture it. Or at least tell me which episode.

Posted by: spongebobjeff

I can't believe this is not anywhere on the web!!!!!

I've searched for an hour all over mobile ringtone sites, the ericsson site, etc.

no one can come up with this one????????

it's hard to believe..............

you'd figure it'd be popular.

I'm desparate for it!!!!!

Chin-B0i, I know his cell rang when he was in the hospital visiting his girlfriend after she got burned up. I think it's two episodes before the finale. I know it rang a few times, so maybe you can get a decent capture.

Posted by: chin-b0i

I know which episode youi're talking about, and I think I know where to get it. Was it relatively quiet when it rang? The quieter the better, so there's less background noise.

BTW, this is going to be an MP3 ringtone - there's no way I can make it into a midi or anything.

Anyway, my plan is to extract the audio from the AVI using VirtualDub and save it as a WAV. Clip out the part where his phone rings using a sound editor, and then encode it as an MP3.

Posted by: spongebobjeff

I cant remember how quiet it was in that scene, but it was a hospital & it did ring a few times. Hopefully you can catch a clean ring when it was quiet & then we can loop it.

mp3 is perfect!

lemme know! Thanks so much!

p.s there is also an episode when Carmella agreed to let AJ sleep over at a hotel in NYC (when he got trashed in that hotel room) and he never came home the next morning. Carmella called Tony that morning. Tony was sleeping & his cell rang a few times. I KNOW that one was quiet, cause the scene began with a shot of Tony sound asleep then his phone rang twice to wake him up. Dont know what number episode that was, but you probably know which one I'm talking about.........

Posted by: votetrev

If you absolutely cant find an episode i have every season up to 5 on dvd, and many of the season 5 rips on my computer, if there is a very good sample on an episode i have i will rip it and post it for you to download to make the ringer from.

Posted by: votetrev

Anyone?

Posted by: chin-b0i

Hey sorry... been quite busy the last few days. I'll see if I can do it this week. The main delay is that I need to redownload the episode (which I legitamately own on DVD, of course) before I can rip the ringtone out.

If anyone has the episode on their hard drive, it would speed things up quite a bit if they could use VirtualDub or a similar program to rip the ringtone out, or at least the scene containing the ringer, and I'll slice and dice it to perfection and encode it.

Posted by: ninethreeeleven

I have no idea what it sounds like but this site has a bunch of "default" ringtones (inside the nokia folder)

Good luck.Mobile9

NOTE: after listening to some of them, I doubt thier what your looking for but you might as well look.

Posted by: ninethreeeleven

Is this it (dont get your hopes up, it probably isn't)Sony-Ericcson

Posted by: kkline

No

Posted by: chin-b0i

I got the episode, ripped the ringer.

MP3 ringtones on my phone don't repeat though, so I'll have to repeat the audio manually. Also, there seems to be a bit of noise after I amplified the ringer.

Any sound gurus good at removing noise?

I tried muting the noise out, but it makes a "click" when it transitions from the ring to silence.

Posted by: kkline

can you attach the ringer.

Posted by: chin-b0i

Yup, once I get home from work.

Posted by: buckinmi

thanks chin-boi!

Posted by: buckinmi

hey man!! wheres the ringer??? you still workin? LOL!

Posted by: chin-b0i

lol.... im at work now actually. the ringer is sitting on my hard drive. i still have to clean up the noise a bit, and then loop it for 20-25 seconds.

and about attaching it, i'm not sure if it's under 15k. if it isn't, ill probably host it on my site or something.

Posted by: buckinmi

thats cool.

is it in mp3 format?

Posted by: chin-b0i

Yup.

Posted by: buckinmi

any luck with this ringtone?

Posted by: Stewart715

Where is it! :P

Posted by: votetrev

If you dont have the ringer, dont tell people you do, that really bugs me!

Posted by: spongebobjeff

what is going on with this?

any word yet? Do we have it or what?

Posted by: chin-b0i

Someone give me their email and I'll email it to them, and they can host it and post a link here.
The problem is I don't have naywhere to host it.

Posted by: spongebobjeff

hunguskarl@hotmail.com

Thank you!

Posted by: HyToFry

If anyone has the rip of the sound, you can send it to me on AIM or Yahoo, and I'll encode it as mp3 and host it.

I'll be on AIM and yahoo today as "HyToFry" on both.

I'm too lazy to rip the sound from an avi (mainly because I don't want to download the avi.)

So, if you have it ripped as a wav already, let me know.

Thanks!

Posted by: mfsri

If no one has T's ringtone how about the shows theme song. Is that anywhere to be found?

Thanks M

Posted by: mfsri

OK, I have a WAV file of Tony's ringtone. I don't know how to edit it to boost the vloume, loop or even get it to MP3. Can someone HELP??

Here is the wav file. This is the best I could do off the Season 4 DVD.

Emailed mine to Mike.

Here is chin-bOi's file. I don't know how to loop it or convert it to a ringtone. Can anyone do this?

This is a better version then the one i did...

Posted by: buckinmi

i looped it and saved it as an mp3, but it is too big to attach..

anyone have a site they wanna post it on? PM me with your email address, and ill send it to you.

Posted by: spongebobjeff

Hey everyone!

I trimmed up the sound, looped it for 5 rings, and filtered out a lot of background junk/hiss noise.

I also enhanced the sound curve and pulled up the volume as much as I could without distorting it. It sounds very nice on my VX6000!

It's a .mid file, so it's all ready to upload through bitpim.

I emailed it to Mike to see if he wouldnt mind posting it on his site. Thanks Mike!

Jeff
(Spongebobjeff)

Posted by: mike300

Ok, the mid file is now up of the following link:

ftp://sopranoringer:12345678@mywebpages.comcast.net

I have a Motorola V600. I downloaded it to my phone and it wouldn't recognize the file type.

Do I need to convert it to MP3? If so, how would I do that?

Just rename the .mid to .mp3 and uploaded it to your phone. Thats what I did and it works great on my v600

Posted by: HyToFry

This was my very first attempt at making a midi file.

It is a bit quiet, but I turned up the volume all the way in Anvil... I think it's in midi type 0 format. It sounds alright on my vx6000. It would probably sound a lot better if I could find a "BEEP" instrument in Anvil's list.

Anyway... here it is. In midi format. It repeats about every four seconds on my vx6000, and it's TINY like woah.

I also redid the mp3. It's a bit bigger, but it sounds exactly like Tony's on the movie. It loops for thirty seconds, it's clean, and it's loud like wah!

weighing in at 123,507 bytes, here it is. (If you want a smaller version, just download this one, and shorten it.)

http://www.hytofry.com/ringtones/TonySoprano.mp3

By the way... was I the only one who thought it would be a much much much cooler ring? :P

Edit: I should add that the midi tone DOES NOT sound like a piano on the vx6000. It sounds like that in Windows Media Player, but if you play it in Anvil, then it comes closer to the way it sounds on the vx6000. Just FYI.

Posted by: Ajs24

I took the MIDI file ( TonySoprano.mid ) and i added it to my phone using BITPIM and then i just use it as a text message alert and it rings once .. im happy lol

Posted by: BonCelly

This is very cool! I emailed it to my phone, and it played, but I couldn't save it. It says "Error Save Sound" anyone else having the same issue? Thanks in advance, and thanks for the cool tone!

Posted by: chin-b0i

Yeah I was a little disappointed too...

Guess it's just the atmosphere of the show.

Posted by: spongebobjeff

HyToFry,

Thanks for the file!

Can you send me (or post) a scaled down version of the 123K file? The looping is fine and the length is fine, but the volume is just a little too loud.

Your sound file seems to be a lot cleaner than mine, but the volume is too loud, cause it distorts a little on my VX 6000 even on low or med-low.

Can you cut the volume down by about 40% and re-post?

I tried it myself using soundforge, but I cant seem to keep the sound as clean for some reason.

I really appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

Jeff

Exact same thing happened to me when i sent it to my phone using vzwpix - try going threw BITPIM - worked like a charm for me

Posted by: HyToFry

Okay, here's three files.

Each one is the ringer, with no loop.

ts1 is the same sound level you had it it at spongebob.
ts2 is twice as loud as ts1.
ts3 is twice as loud as ts2.

You'll probably want ts1, but you might like ts2. Anyway, you know how to loop it, so do it to it.

All three files are small enough to email to the vx6000 (and one beep is great for a text message.)

Too bad we can't get vib function to go with it.

http://www.hytofry.com/vx6000/ts1.mp3
http://www.hytofry.com/vx6000/ts2.mp3
http://www.hytofry.com/vx6000/ts3.mp3

All three files are 32 kbs, 22050 htz. You might want to dumb down the 32 kbs, but I wouldn't suggest tweaking the htz.

That's coz goldwave owns soundforge.

If you can't get it to loop in soundforge, let me know, and I'll post a loopy version.

Alternatively, you could try going into dos mode, finding the correct path, and doing a copy.

copy ts1.mp3 + ts1.mp3 + ts1.mp3 Tsloop.mid

This would create a file called Tsloop.mid with ts1.mp3 looped in it three times.

Posted by: jtang613

Could someone post or send me the midi file please.

--- nevermind, found it... well hidden ----------

Posted by: Mr Joe

Reading a few of your posts made me wanna look for the ringtone myself.. i found this.

http://www.hbo.com/sopranos/wireless/index.shtml#

Se if this helps

Posted by: jtang613

Unfortunately, that site charges for the ringtone... and in addition, the ringtone we were discussing here is the actual ringtone used by TS, not the Sopranos theme song.

Either way, I already found what I was looking for: Tony Sopranos' SMS tone in midi format.

Posted by: HyToFry

HaHaHa.

I got my hands on an older Sony Ericcson phone, and, sure enough, Melody 1 is the ringer.

Tonight when I get home, I'll use my high quality mics and quiet bedroom to record a crystal clear copy of the ringtone. Maybe I'll even be able to convert it to midi. Still wish I could somehow find a way to make it a beep sound.

Does anybody know of a midi engine or what have you which can accomplish this?

Posted by: zgrm

guys so can any1 post the midi of this? I have a samsun a670 and it cant play mp3... I would appreciate it thanks. The current one I have only rings once though.

Posted by: jtang613

HyToFry has it posted on Page 3 as a zip file. Just download and unzip.

Posted by: HyToFry

I forgot about this project. When I get off my lazy rear, I'm going to re-record this with my phone, and then save it as a qcp file. I've heard that qcp files will loop on a phone. That should generate a file small enough to email to the phones.

w00t! etc.

Posted by: jtang613

I heard that somewhere too

Midi files will loop as well. Plus, the TonySoprano midi is only 217 bytes.

AFAIK mp3's are the only ones that don't loop.

Posted by: peanutman21

Hi All,

Sorry for asking a dumb question-

I downloaded the MIDI file from HytoFry. How do I get this MIDI to now be my ringtone for my cell phone? I have a Samsung X426.

I am a beginner at this, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Posted by: peanutman21

Just thought of something...

If someone has already done all the leg work here (and it sounds like a few of you have) could someone just text message the ringtone?

Posted by: spongebobjeff

HyToFry,

Any luck recording a cleaner/clearer sound from the Ericsson phone you got hold of?

Posted by: HyToFry

Not yet. I'll get it soon enough.

Posted by: rck1

Is it possible for someone to post a version that repeats 4 or 5 times that is small enough to email to my phone? Thanks.

If it is .mid or .qcp format, it will repeat by itself on your phone.

Posted by: HyToFry

That's not a true mid format, so it won't repeat. I tried it as qcp, and it sounded like ××××.... here it is though...

The thing is... it doesn't repeat when you email it to your phone. You have to name it with a .mid exstension, and the phone won't repeat it when it has a bad exstension. So you'd have to use the cable anyway, and that defeats the purpose...

Posted by: jtang613

Why would anyone use MP3 or QCP when HyToFry has the actual (real) MIDI posted on page 3?

Its only 217 BYTES, it repeats as a ringtone, it plays once as a SMS tone. Why settle for a knockoff when the real thing is already posted?

Posted by: rck1

Isn't the version on page 3 to big to email? How do I get this ringtone (is it possible?) if I don't have the cable?

Posted by: jtang613

217 bytes, NOT kilobytes. Thats as small as I've seen.

To put that in comparison, its 15 times smaller than the 3.2kb file listed above.

I'm sure you could easily email it to your phone.

It's not quite the "real thing" it's pretty ×××× good if I do say so myself, but it's not the true ringtone. It just sounds pretty ×××× close on the vx6000.

Note to anyone who opened it, and dismissed it because it sounded like a piano: It only sounds like that in some programs. I assure you that on the vx6000, it will sound exactly as it should.

ts.mid.zip This is a true midi version, it's not an mp3, or a qcp. It's a real midi, and will work on any phone which supports midi files (though I can't garuntee that it will sound the same on all phones. It sounds like it should on my vx6000 with S/W V05 and on my new one with S/W V06.)

There's the link in case you missed it earlier. Just open the zip file, and email the .mid to your phone. It will email without a hitch, and repeat like it should. It sounds pretty ×××× close to the original, though it's not exact.

Posted by: rck1

Ok, I must be stupid. Why can'tI emiail this to my phone? I've emailed ringers before. It keeps saying that there is an error. Thanks.

Posted by: HyToFry

I don't know. Try using www.vzwpix.com to send the message. It has an option to add a sound. It's the most surefire way to get a ringer on your vx6000, and it's never failed me.

Good luck.

Posted by: rck1

I tried that and it didn't work. Also tried emailing from my yahoo account as others have suggested and that didn't work either. I'm sure I am doing something wrong but I have no idea what it is.

Posted by: HyToFry

Are you getting any message at all on the phone?

Which file are you trying to send?

Posted by: HyToFry

here's the final revision of the ringtone. It's named with a .qcp extension, but it's actually an mp3 file. The good news is that it will repeat when put on the vx6000 with a data cable.

It will not even make it to your phone if you try to put it on your phone by emailing it to yourself. If you know someone who has a data cable, and a vx6000 or compatable, then you could have them pixmessage the qcp file to you. I might be willing to do send it, but if I get too many requests, I'll have to stop (for obvious reasons) or start charging you via paypal donations of $0.20.

Posted by: HyToFry

Whoops... I forgot to attach it.

This is a perfect quality mp3. It has a .qcp exstension, but it is an mp3 file. You can not email this to your phone, you must use a data cable to transfer it. Once it's on your phone, if you set it as your ringer, it will repeat. It sounds brilliant.

Tony Soprano Ringer mp3, named as qcp.

Again, this is not a true qcp file, so it will not play in the qcp player utility, it will, however, repeat when it's placed on a vx6000 with the .qcp extension intact.

Posted by: kkline

Nicely done!

Posted by: spongebobjeff

HyToFry,

Nice work! the qcp sounds EXCELLENT.

Can you do me one more favor? It's way too loud, even set to "low" on the LGVK6000.

Can you cut the volume of the qcp down by about 40% & re-post?

I owe you some beers for all your hard work.

I have sound forge, but not sure how to re-save as a qcp???

Thanks man!

Jeff

Posted by: HyToFry

Sorry. Didn't see this. Here you go.

Tony Soprano ringer at 60% volume.

Posted by: HyToFry

And here's the original... both of them at the top of the newest page. How convieniant.

Tony's ringer... full volume.

http://www.howardforums.com/attachm...&postid=3460594

This file will repeat on the vx6000. It can't, however, be emailed to the phone as is. you have to change the extension to .mid, and then it won't repeat. c'est la vie.

Posted by: peanutman21

Hello Hytofry!

The above file is in the QCP fromat. Can you also post this as a MIDI file?

Thanks!

Posted by: HyToFry

http://www.howardforums.com/attachm...&postid=3286641

There's the midi version. It sounds like a piano in some midi players, but it sounds like it should on the vx6000. (I can't vouch for any other phones... sorry.)

It does not sound *exactly* like Tony's ringer. To get a looping version which sounds exact, you have to use the .qcp version, and transfer it to the phone via bitPIM and a datacable.

It does sound pretty ×××× decent though.

Posted by: winstonwolfe200

I have downloaded the file and transferred it to my phone and it works as the ringtone. I also found this exact ringtone on my fathers ericsson mobile, its called melody 1. The problem with the ringtone that howtofry edited, is that it loops too quickly. Dont get me wrong he has done an excellent job. i was just wondering if anyone knew 1.) how to prolong the looping or 2.) how i might be able to transfer the ringtone from my father's ericsson phone to my nokia 6230? any ideas?

Posted by: rphmann

tried to get this on my vx6000 but it doesn't repeat. Anyone have a newer version? What am I doing wrong? used a data cable sounds great but doesn't repeat. Thanks!
