these dealers or "authroized representatives" give out great deals on phones

Yes, but sometimes they can mess up your account really bad. Most NRS locations CAN price match. So, if a dealer has a good deal, get something in writing or at least get their phone number and go to a NRS and tell them about it. They can match it, and then you get pretty good service and customer care (in most cases).

Yes.

Anyone know why the assignable picture to a contact feature isnt on the phone? It was in the slideshow for the phone before it came out. But I havent heard anything about it sense the phone came out.
Shane

Posted by: leo777

thats my opinion ,they might make it a feature to pay for on idenupdate!!!!!

Posted by: danimsta

if ur talkin about the 830, i havent seen the assign pic to contact yet

if ur talkin about the 860, it DOES have it, u just gotta have a falcon chip in there

I can get the i-830 for 199 from Nextel what I wanna know is it worth it, or should I wait a while incase they find problems with it?

Peter

Posted by: Nextel_Maniac

So far no major issues with the i830...only complaint I have is that the keypad touches the screen and scratches it...but other than that, I would def. go for it!

Posted by: shanezam203

yeah I have the 830 and the 64k sim looks like they left it out. It was in the slideshow for the 830 before it came out, anyone else remember seeing it? That would have been kinda cool being able to assign a pic from the wallpaper or from some default pics when a person is calling. But I guess it wouldnt do much good without it showing up on the outside like the 860 will...
O well, I'll live.

Posted by: PKassab

Sweet, thanks and for 199 you cant go wrong. I will order one on Monday

Peter

id wait for the i860. the i830 is too small... i think. i was playing with one and i had a hard time opening it up everytime. i kept hitted the volume down key when i would open the phone up.

Posted by: OYSTER RSX

at idenstore.com it has these specs for the i830 battery life...What does SC stand for? Also what are the differences between batteries 1 & 3, and what are the differences between batteries 2 & 4? why does 3 & 4 have so much more power????

Specifications for i830

Battery Talk Time Standby

1)w/ Slim SC Battery 200 min Up to 60 hrs

2)w/ High Performance SC Battery 280 min Up to 80 hrs
WHAT ARE THESE BATTERIES?

3)w/ Slim SC Battery (3:1) 135 min Up to 60 hrs (IAM ASSUMING THIS IS THE ONE I HAVE, WHICH CAME WITH THE PHONE)

4)w/ High Performance SC Battery (3:1) 185 min Up to 80 hrs

Biggest problem I have while wearing flip phones on my belt is the inadvertent opening of the flip. The i830 is ideal size to fit in my pants pocket.

Before any of you lamers start ta flame me, and im sure atleast one of you will, I have searched, and searched again, and even searched somemore, after all i am a noob ta this, but does anyone know where to get good games for free?

Posted by: shanezam203

try these games for the 730. they should work fine on the 830.
Shane

Posted by: Nextel_Maniac

well if you use the holster that came with the phone, the flip will not "inadvertantly" open as you so describe it...

Posted by: insanati0n

you cant delete them, but they can be overwritten with files of the exact same name

No modding was required with the i730 either for the disco light, what is your point? All 830's do that, I mean if you are just excited about it then great, im not hating, but its a standard feature.....lets work on some more standard features Motorola! Like the ability to GROUP contacts and set a ring tone for a group, IS IT THAT HARD?!?!?!? I am especially pissed because I hear that this option is not available on the i860 either. Cmon Moto, get your ×××× together. Take a page out of Samsung's book for christ's sake. UGH. Sorry for the rant, I just know that it is so easy for them to do, yet they don't and continue to sell overpriced phones (that I buy) with limited features. The ONLY thing that we have to brag about is every phone (no matter the size) has speakerphone and a walkie talkie (very reliable as well). Can we outdo SOMEONE in something other that DC??? I suppose the new superfast wireless stuff is on its way, but in the end, its about features.

Hey my first post, but view the forums a lot...here a few more snapshots I took so you guys know how small the phone really is I love it, but makes me more anxious to have the i860 or i930! I took the pics real quick so they are kinda crappy, but gives ya an idea for those of u w/ a i95cl. Its a real classy looking phone, people asking me to see it when it rings and the disco light goes off hehe.

How about a comparison of signal and service from the 830 and the 95? That would be great. How is the signal on both in the same spot? Dropped calls? Does signal bounce up and down on one, or both, or none? ect.. thanks

i was just wondering if its normal to lose the flashing lcd after loading wav files. and if it is how can you get it back?

Posted by: danimsta

with wav files, the lcd does not flash, ONLY with midi files(jazz ology, merengue, vanish)

EY i kinda just got into modding my phones... im ordering my phone very soon.. but do you think the 830 looks better in silver or copper...and to get the ring tones and wallpapers you use the wire that you buy seperately from the phone right?

Excuse my lack of knowledge please

I'll step in and help a fellow Westchestarian
I like it better in silver and that is popular belief...Yes you need the separate data cable (USB preferred)

i just got my i830, i had a i95 and i got a paper from nextel for $200 upgrade with 1 year contract and a jabra earwave for $1, i havnt had a scratched screen yet, i kept the factory plastic on until i find a resolution i like, the speakerphone is weak compared to the i95 but hey its smaller i expected that, the reception seems to fluctuate more but is pretty much consistent with the reception i had with the i95, my only problem is battery life, at my job it works fine in the entire building except for where i sit and it searches for service all day long and i think its killing the battery (i'm working on getting nextel in our department and some repeaters) so i barely get a day of use in on the battery, does anyone have the extended battery? is it worth the money? all in all i like the phone and i see most of my issues with it come along with a small phone, it was the same when i got a nokia 8260 with att when they first came out, but hey the phone looks hot and sits in the pocket well

Posted by: piercedlip81

i couldnt find this on a search, but in the options/display/backlight, what is the sensor option? I read in the nextel book but no idea cause it just has an arrow at it. I know its the little light next to the menu keys, but looks like a light sensor maybe for night/day to have the backlight stay lit up? but it doesnt....thx

The extended battery is available on the 830 but there is no cover for it yet. I want it too...battery life is very poor

light sensor ON means the phone will detect if lighting conditions are too dark to read the keypad and turn the backlight on automatically
sensor OFF means the backlight will come on every time the flip opens

Doea anyone have trouble with calls fading in and out? My Brother has the phone and he's been complaining about the phone fading in and out while on a phone call.

Just Curious.
