You'll find:

Motorola USB Installation - official USB drivers from Motorola, this is an installation pack, not individual or zipped. (usb cable only).

Flash p2k Drivers - flash p2k's hard to find drivers are now easy to find, only if you have problems with i730's p2k device installation, these drivers are required.

USB Drivers - zipped up package of 2 of the Motorola USB Modem device. (USB cable only).

Note - Serial cables do not require drivers.

Enjoy.

Actually the flash2pk is exactly what I needed And at the risk of sounding like a total ignoramus, where do I put the p2k files? I figured I would put them into the folder C:\Program Files\Motorola\Iden USB Driver. So I moved them there and I still get the "can't get the required info from phone check cables etc..) Maybe that's the wrong place or whatever. Anybody have any ideas? Oh I'm using Windows XP pro Sp1

To install the p2k drivers:

Download the p2k drivers, unzip the drivers to your desktop.. let's say in folder: "x"

Open the folder, you'll see all the p2k driver and inf files, you right click them and select "Install". This will install the drivers into your machine, also copy them to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\

Updating the p2k drivers if they aren't found:

Right click 'My Computer' go to 'Properties', go to the Hardware tab, click on 'Device Manager'. In device manager, you'll see on the device list Flash p2k with a yellow exclemation mark next to it. Right click it and choose "Update Driver", update the driver from the specific location "x" where the drivers are unzipped.

Follow these steps, you should have NO problem.

That's a no go man.. Went on each file and chose install. Nothing popped up or anything (not sure if it was supposed to or not). I moved them all to the driver folder that you outlined. There are no flash p2k entries in the device manager. I don't know wassup..

Alright I think the whole device properly failed because when you get the p2k in the manager, it'll only stay as long as the p2k failure was right before it. Meaning you can't reboot after because on the next boot the whole procedure has went wrong, and wrong results stay with the pc.

It's fixable, re-install the drivers to begin with. Save the motorola usb device installer and save the p2k drivers to your desktop. Right click 'My Computer', proceed to 'Properties' and again Hardware tab and open up the Device Manager. You'll have to look for the devices marked with the yellow exclemation mark, if there are none, under 'Modems' if you have 'Motorola USB Modem' right click it and select Remove.

The drivers are all cleared up, remove the cable (if it was plugged) to your computer and go on with the USB installer program. Once it installs, connect your cable.

Next step is to go to your 'Control Panal' (start -> settings -> control panal) and go to 'Add New Hardware'. In there, you choose 'Yes, I've plugged in the hardware already' and let it search, you've installed the device before so installing it again is no biggie, I assume you're not a complete newb at this.

Next will be to connect your phone, open ×××××/webjal or whatever you use, go to Options, bubble in 'Connect via USB' and connect away.

Once the p2k hardware pop up comes up, you selected you already have the drivers, search from a specific location, search from your desktop to the unzipped folder with the drivers.

You should have no problems.

Well after I uninstall the modem it asks me to restart and I do. then as soon as I plug the phone up again I get a new hardware wizard (without going to the whole control panel Add Hardware wizard)

When I run webjal and hit connect to phone, no p2k hardware wizard pops up... I know what you are referring to because the very first time I did it months and months ago, I did get that p2k hardware wizard. But all of a sudden my USB stopped working, and I never got that p2k wizard again

The p2k wizard pops up after the USB device is already installed, first attempt to connect the 730 p2k will pop up. The wizard is located in device manager, if not I guess you have to reinstall the whole thing. I dunno, those are the p2k drivers though. I had that problem and those drivers fixed it.

im having problems installing ***** to my new pc, im using the new i870 what can i do

IIRC, putting the phone in flashstrap mode (holding both softkeys in then hitting power) then connecting cable to phone should bring up the p2k hardware installation

I too am having problem with data cable. I uninstalled the iden modem and reinstalled the usb software right from motorola.com/idens web site. The p2k came up on it's own but now every phone I try and connect says flashtrap. The phones say "press okay" to program. I can not get past this. Is there something wrong now? Anyone know how I can bypass this flashtrap!? Please let me know
Thanks in advance
Annie
