This is the error message that it gives me.
is there any problem with that?
and one more thing. If the size is the matter. How can I get about 30 seconds length of mp3 file to put into my cell phone as a ringtone?

You have to convert the mp3 files to 16k mono, then change the extention to .mid
hope this helps

If I change the extension to .mid, then it wouldn't have any voices or people singing. I've tried the mp3 to midi convertor and it only converts the rhythm so it wouldn't have any voices in that mid file.
is there any other way?
or does LG VX4400 support mp3 files?

you dont even need a converter...just change the extension which should be .mp3 and add .mid to the end of it

So where do I exactly go to change the extension?
I can't just rename the file because it doesn't show .mp3 on the name

Depending on what version of windows you are running, you need to enter my computer or windows explorer, click the tools menu at the top, then click folder options. In the next window that pops up, depending on the windows version, you need to find a view tab, then find an option for "hide file extensions for known file types". you want this option unchecked. Now you will be able to see the extensions and edit them. The actual options names and the tab (view) may be called different things depending on the windows version you run (as i said).
good luck!
on a side question for the group then since i am in a similar predicament, if i have an mp3 file that I want to make a ringtone with (for the 4400), all i need to do is change to a .mid extension, there is no conversion necessary?

when i change the extension from .mp3 to .mid, the music doesn't play.
is there any way to ffix that??

im havin the same problem.. someone says its possible for the 4400 to play mp3 ringers..
ive tried bitpim .062 and 7 it wont read the mp3 files.
ive converted the mp3 to 32k and 16k mono.. still wont read the files on my hard drive..
renamed them and still wont read them.
ive seen ppl post it will play mp3's but have yet to see instructions that prove other wise.
i can upload mp3's to my 6000 but not my 4400.. i think its all hype!
ive used all version of bitpim. its not my cable casue im able to read all info off my phone. just not send data to it.
anyone who has mp3 rings post your instruction.

The 4400 won't read mp3's.........
If you want to use mp3's as ringers - you're on the right track.
They have to be 16k, mono and less than 65k (I think - don't quote me there - but it's something like that)
Get you mp3 all made up to the proper parameters - then changhe the extension from .mp3 to .mid
upload it to your phone, go to ringers/more/downloaded
voila.

The VX4400 can play mp3's... Changing the file extension from .mp3 to .mid does NOTHING to the data; it is just an mp3 file with an incorrect file extension. You do need to convert the mp3 to 16k mono before use though.

okayyy...........so.....yes. techincally you can play an mp3 on a 4400.
It has the wrong extension...but it's still an mp3.
The only way I've found to get the "mp3" uploaded to the via bitpim was by changing the extension.
I don't think anyone made any references to the fact that the data was any different...just that to get it upload to the phone it had to be of a certain parameter and have a different extension....

when i change the extension its give me an error about the file becoming unstable... is that normal?
ive have gotten the files to the phone but it wont play anything.
lil by little i reckon..
now it plays static,,, so should my ringer look like this on my comp..
"title.mp3.mid"
or
"title.mid" <---- when i do that it tells me the file may be unusable and to click ok to continue to rename the file extension. (sorry does on both of the renames.)

unusable.
no problem rename it as a .mid - no .mp3.mid
from another thread I use this program to convert the mp3 to a 16k file - then rename the extension:
