"Play" in the flip

Anyone who has had there 8900 for a while noticed a "looser" flipping movement with the phone? To test, open the phone and shake it gently to and fro. The top of the phone shouldn't move much as I tried it with a new one on display at Circuit City and it felt much more stable. However, mine moves pretty easily. It still closes securely but I was wondering if anyone has taken the phone apart in any manner? I checked the screws on the faceplate, hoping they were loose and might be a factor but no luck. There must be somewhere else to tighten it it seems...

I'm assuming the hinges are loosening due to normal wear.

There's probably NO way to tighten it unless you get new hinges. But then you might as well just get a new phone.

Yea, I'm noticing that as I've already disassembled much more than I should have.

to prevent this from happening, you should never let the phone slam shut. Guide it closed easily instead. And even though it might look cool to flip open your phone with one hand, same thing, guide it open easily.

and keep it out of your pockets as sideways pressure can really tweak the hinges

speaking of which.... i had a dream the other night i cracked my sub lcd in my pocket....lesson learned, it stays on the belt clip

Well, just because you had a dream about it doesn't mean it will really happen. :laughs:

Plus, in my opinion, those belt-clip things look more dorky than having your phone in your pocket.

And what is this "sideways pressure" you're talking about? When my phone's in my pocket, it doesn't get any pressure on the sides of it -- there's nothing else in that pocket...

i know but it seemed real, and i just assumed it happened and was sad, until i woke up, then i was like...wtf... plus i noticed my brother has had his in his pocket more than me and his is as loose as my ex gf

oh and for the sideways pressure look at the phone grab the cover and move it side to side... it moves a little bit... if yiou have tighter jeans on or if its on the outside of your leg and you sit down or bump against something i assume its placing uneccessary stress on the hinges??

Well, I don't really wear tight pants, since I'm not from the 80's.
:laughs:

And I don't usually run into stuff -- I can generally avoid objects from my walking path.

I guess if you can't do that then you should use a handy-clip for your phone. Then you'll be "handy-capable"...

i meant if your getting into a car or something...
