Calendar settings 8600

In the Calendar tool, you can set reminders by creating New Events. However, when the set time arrives and the reminder pops up on screen, 2 things happen:
  1. Only the first part of the Event Message shows up because a stupid wallpaper/graphic is taking up space. The Event Message scrolls to the left, but it does so very slowly. None of the keys on the keypad can control (e.g., speed up) the scrolling either. And once you press any key,...
  2. The whole Event entry is automatically deleted, preventing me from reviewing past Events.

Here's my question to anybody who might know better:
How can I change the settings so that Calendar Events are not automatically deleted?

I've already searched the threads here and other websites. No luck. Hopefully, someone here can shed some light on this problem.

Thanks!

Also...

While setting the Event, the phone allows you to set a reminder 1 hour before, 30 minutes before, 10 minutes before the Event. But this feature doesn't have much merit, because when the reminder pops up, that part of the information is not displayed.

For example, if you set an Event for a 10am meeting, and you want to be reminded 1 hour prior to that Event, your phone will sound an alarm at 9am, but it won't say whether the meeting is at 10am, or 9:30am, or now. It's not so bad if you can remember that your meeting time is at 10am. But isn't that what reminders are for? The tool becomes really useless once you enter several Events that you can't keep track of all at once.

The quick solution is using the Alarm option, instead of the Event option. But the Alarm can only hold 3 entries. Is this just poor design? Or is there some setting that can be changed to alleviate these problems?

I have been wondering the same thing. I have not found any way around this.

Does the 8900's calendar tool act the same way? Maybe some of the 8900 users here can try it on their phones.

Yes the same problem exists for the 8900. This is very bad software desing - deleteing user set data automatically and it doesn't even warn you! There should be a setting that you can turn this off or at the very least set it to keep the data for a month or so. This is supposed to be a full functioning calendar but functions as a simple reminder alarm. A calendar should be for recording events for past/present/future. Very frustrating and very poor software design.

This behavior wouldn't be bad if we can sync our desktop appointments to the phone. By automatically removing old appointments, memory is freed up.

Has anyone been able to sync their desktop calendar with their 8600?

OK, i bought the VZ 8600 and the MOK (if anybody wants the software pls PM) with the cable but this thing does not do the calendar

Anybody has news about this feature in the audiovox 8600?

I have all the apps balpatch9, qpst, bitpim etc and i can access the FS but I havn't found any info about the calendar schedule feature so far.

I thinking about returning this phone for one that has this feature enabled.

Any ideas?

TIA
