Help with Nokia 6340i

Help! I have a Nokia 6340i that I would like to connect to the Internet with. I have purchased the DLR-3P cable and the Belkin F5U109 USB to serial cable. I also downloaded and installed Nokia PC Suite and the drivers for the phone from the Nokia.com site. My laptop detects the phone but when I start to dialup something goes wrong and my computer is shut down. When asked if I want Windows to send information to see what the problem is I am directed to this page to download a driver for USB Serial Converter: http://www.mct.com.tw/driver.html. Can anyone tell me how I can make a connection with the server without my phone shutting down? Nokia tech said it has something to do with the pins in the adapters not being compatible. Surely I've not spent all this money in vain.

you need drivers for the usb cable as well..
