after spending just about all day figuring out what file does what on my phones filesystem (logged in my other thread "8900 information") the only thing Ive found of any difference when I compare files is in the subdirectory: root/nvm/nvm/ file name "nvm_hei".
Now I saved that file once before I changed anything, I have a custom .gif file as my wallpaper.
So then I changed the wallpaper to clock 1 and refreshed the sub tree, then saved it again and compared the files.
Heres the difference between them (hex):
-----------------------------------
BG1 = my custom .gif background
BG2 = digital clock 1 background
Line 00001050 Row 4:
BG1: 2C
BG2: 6B
Line 00001050 Row 5:
BG1: 0C
BG2: 00
Line 00001060 Row 9:
BG1: 04
BG2: 00
-----------------------------------
BG1 = Digital Clock 1
BG2 = Digital Clock 2
Line 00001050 Row 4:
BG1: 6B
BG2: 6C
Line 00001050 Row 5:
BG1: 00
BG2: 00
Line 00001060 Row 9:
BG1: 00
BG2: 00
-----------------------------------
BG1 = Analog Clock 1
BG2 = Analog Clock 2
Line 00001050 Row 4:
BG1: 6D
BG2: 6E
Line 00001050 Row 5:
BG1: 00
BG2: 00
Line 00001060 Row 9:
BG1: 02
BG2: 02
-----------------------------------
BG1 = Analog Clock 1
BG2 = Flower Background
Line 00001050 Row 4:
BG1: 6D
BG2: 6F
Line 00001050 Row 5:
BG1: 00
BG2: 00
Line 00001060 Row 9:
BG1: 02
BG2: 04
-----------------------------------
BG1 = Analog Clock 1
BG2 = Pix #1 Background
Line 00001050 Row 4:
BG1: 6D
BG2: 54
Line 00001050 Row 5:
BG1: 00
BG2: 2F
Line 00001060 Row 9:
BG1: 02
BG2: 04
-----------------------------------
Also Compared:
Analog Clock 1 to Digital Clock 1, no new variables.
Analog Clock 1 to Custom Background, no new variables.
I'm pretty sure Ive ruled out the possibility of comparing two of the same test group and coming up with a new variable difference between them.
So, condenced down and reordered we get a table that looks like this:
Custom: 2C 0C 04
Pix#1: 54 2F 04
Digital1: 6B 00 00
Digital2: 6C 00 00
Analog1: 6D 00 02
Analog2: 6E 00 02
Flower: 6F 00 04
I believe with what Ive found out, if you change line 00001060 row 9 in your custom background from 04 to 00 it will display the digital clock on your custom background.
Anyone willing to test this theory out? I just recently hard locked my first phone and had to get it replaced so I'm hesitant on diving into this one.

I have no clue if it will work or not.. but I seriously must give u props for the effort.
I hope it does work. That transperant digital clock will be even better than the telus version... i hope some one tries it soon

If my cell phone was not my primary phone (no landline) I would try it, but if I lost my cell, I'd literally be without a phone at all! PLUS, the Verizon and Telus versions seem to be different anyway...

i tried to change the 04 to 00 in line 1060 but when i attempted to overwrite the original nvm_hei file, bitpim gave me an error
