Removing battery from SL56 to put in new housing.

So I have a new housing and want to take the battery out of the old shell and put it in the new one. But it seems the battery has a bit of circuitry and is glued/taped in there... I'm afraid to yank it. Anyone have any suggestions on how I should proceed? Thanks.
